Hey guys, need a little advice (really fast!). Doing a venue at our museum in town, larger room with 20ft ceilings. Any suggestions on where to start at setting the mixer? (For normal venues I set it at #61 (? and reverb) and it sounds great.

Well there's a lot that comes into play that you haven't included here and honestly without hearing the room it's really tough to say. Is the ceiling flat or does it follow the roof line? Are there any beams, if so what kind? How big is the room itself? What's covering the walls? What's the ceiling made of (wood, drywall, etc)? What shape is the room? What's covering the floors? All this comes into play when trying to pick reverb. Honestly, the best way is to just try them out and find the one that sounds the most natural. Chances are if the room is what I'm picturing you probably won't need much reverb at all.

Another thing to think about with higher ceilings, especially in larger rooms, is speaker height. You'll be able to stand them higher if you need in order to get the horns up over the heads of the audience without having to worry about reflections off the ceiling.

Thanks for your input. I'll see the room tomorrow, but I have some pretty awesome speaker stands so I can "get them up there". Thank you for your reply and I'll just start with little or no reverb and work from there. Again, thanks for answering me.

Get there early and experiment. With that if I remember right there is a Hall setting, maybe start there.
