It seems the Oprah Winfrey Show is planning a karaoke competiton on her show. She came to Big Mamma's Karapke Cafe in Seymore, Tennessee and did interviews. Details can be found on Big Mamma's website http://www.karaokecafe.com Big Mamma's is about 100 miles from my house and usually my wife and I spend the night in Piegon forge when we go. Very cool. Too bad there can't be a short segment on Oprah's show about the business end of it, not just the stage side. |

One of my patrons sent in a video. Her friend video taped her at karaoke. I was standing next to her not realizing that if she actually makes it I may be seen too. Well my butt any way.  I think she has a good chance, but I'm sure there are a lot of great singers that have signed up. she sang Bleeding Love and hit all the high notes to a tee. Great singer!

Just happened to see this thread... Jim, it was a pretty interesting night when they came that Friday! Her crew was as nice as they could be, in addition to being total "pros", and it was cool to watch them "in action". Karen, I was thinking the same thing...I WISH they could've put more emphasis on the business end of it, instead of the "contest glamour" side, but that's just the k.j. in me speakin'  .
Also got to watch Bebe Winans sing "How Deep Is Your Love" at our place, so all-in-all it was a memorable evening! |

Yeah, I'm the k.j. guy here....although for that event I was just running sound, lights, cueing up singers, etc., and one of my co-workers had to be a "floor host" for the production aspect of the whole thing (which was fine by me ). If you dealt with a 6'3" guy with a goatee, ball cap, who was a "zealot" about keeping the rotation fair the last time you were there.....then yeah, that was me.
Definitely hope you do stop by and say "Hi" sometime! |

Definately will get back eventually but have no tdea when. I will ask about you when I come. I have probably bought 3/4 of my collection of cds at your store. Last time I bought the 2008 best country collection. Sang there several times over the last 5 years or so. My wife and I come over when we stay in Pigeon Forge. Jim_n_TN |

If you are ever in east Tennessee, the Karaoke Cafe is definitely worth the visit. Concert style stage with great sound/lights but all in a warm and cozy environment. And the the gift shop has so much karaoke paraphernalia it will make you head spin. And the KJ's at KC are first rate and on top of their game. (I hope they pay them well) I wonder if Oprah sang?
