JBL Sub question ??? Ok I just picked up a pair of used JBL Mpro MP255s- http://www.buzzillions.com/image.dox?R=79764&wide=false The seller threw in a Crown ce1000- http://www.gear-vault.com/wp-content/up ... ce1000.jpg From what I read the sub will handle 500 watts (2000 watt peak) and the amp is rated at 560W/ch @ 2 ohms, 450W @ 4 ohms, 275W @ 8 ohms, 1,100W bridged mono @ 4 ohms, 900W @ 8 ohms. I still think I need more power. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mojo |

That amp is fine if you bridge it to mono AND only use it for one of the subs. Yes you need two amps, unless you get one that can run over 1000wts into 4ohm per side. You need mo' juice, if you are going to use both of them. |

Well the problem is that they are 4 ohm speakers. So if you were going to go with one amp it would need to cover a 2 ohm load in bridge mono. I suggest an amp that has about 1200 watts at 4 ohm stereo. |

A more powerful amp should make a difference on those subs, as you suggest. I am not a big fan of the CE1000/CE2000, either. It just seems to me like it's easy to overheat them. I certainly would not want to run one into 4 ohms bridged or 2 ohms per channel. Depending on how much you want to spend and what your brand affinities are I would go with something like a Behringer EP2500/EP4000 or a QSC RMX2450. |

What's bad with Carvin is their SUPPORT... they do make decent pro gears but they are one of the worse company to deal with when it comes to support for your products. |

Never had one iota of problem with their support. Only needed to use them 2 times though & that was a couple years back, but had a daul 18" sub that our soundman popped, they sent replacements the day after we called & told us to send the old ones back in the SA packaging. Next was an amp, they had a support guy talk to me for about an hour then traced the problem to one of the modular cards told me how to remove it & they sent me a replacement. I would put their customer support from my experience higher than some of the others - including Mackie. |
