Yes, having to adjust to their requests before the performance takes MORE even more focus and worrying than letting me find the right mix on my own, and i have to cut out the filler music earlier.
Sometimes because of them having utilized different players, they may not be sure if it's 1 or 2 steps down until the music starts.

Then for me remembering to reset my "default mixer-settings" back and removing any effects they may have added/removed can be challenging if i'm very busy. Somtimes i forget to remove the added extra reverb and the next singer turns around and looks at me funny..unny..unny..unny... :mrgreen:

Most singers who request from my book very rarely ask for a key change or added effects and let ME make adjustments to them and the song as it plays.

Not complaining, it just takes 100% focus instead of the usual 75%...


When I switch over to the CDG player it's a whole new world of settings. I'm not sure why this is. The player plays music much much louder, so I need to change the volume settings immediately or I'm blasting people off their chairs. LOL Yep I definitely need to be paying attention when I play peoples discs. My fill in hates using the player because of this. She just can't get the hang of it.

Off topic....This sounds like a sound card issue in your computer - possibly not set correctly or just using the built in sound card possibly which isn't going to perform/sound as good as it could. It should be putting out just as loud of a signal as the disc player.

I use a Cavs machine with usb connect. I thought maybe it was something to do with the settings, but was never able to figure it out. Whatcha think?

Is the player completely separate from the computer - or are you using an external hard drive connected to the CAVS and no computer? Again, i'm not real sure how this one works.
I looked in the manual & didn't see any kind of audio settings except 'possibly' the compression setting is set too high and is only affecting the USB side & not the player side? This is the only thing I can think of otherwise.

Babs,
There may be a vol. control in your cdg player that control the out-put of the player. if you have a remote control look for vol, and press (-) button a few time.

It's a hard drive plugged into the Cavs. And yes the player is seperate. I don't use the disc tray on the Cavs because there is to much down time with load. I use an AB switch.

I've pretty much have gone through all the settings and was never able to figure out why the disc player, RSQ MV-333 Triple Tray, plays so much louder. I would love any suggestions on why this maybe.

Babs, the audio signal from the cdg player is much stronger than the signal from the 203g playing from the cav files on your external hard drive. Some cdgs are recorded with a stronger single than other cdgs, but not as different as playing files verses playing cdgs.
Leave all the settings on your amp/mixer the same "except" lower the gain on the player/203g channel a few notches when switching to the cdg player. Before your show, you can play a song on the cdg player, listen from your monitor, then play the matching song from you hard drive and note what gain levels were comparable to your ear. Either mark the points, or remember what the point difference was, and use this as a starting point. Of course you have to remember to lower it when you play a cdg, and raise it back when you go back to the 203g.
The only other thing I can think of, is to run the 203g and the cdg player to seperate channels on your mixer/amp, and using your av switch, only for the video.
Now the 203g "does" have a volume adjustment, and you should have it at maximum(though it might produce a hum at maximum, but hopefully not). Pretty sure you can 'only" access the volume function with the 'remote control"(hope you didn't throw it away :lol: ), and I don't know if it will stay at that volume after being powered off.
Now the tripple tray player may have a volume function only on the remote also, but I don't think so....but check for one.......
