Some of you may recall my trials and tribulations regarding a host that I trained and used a few times. He rented equipment from me and didn't pay, "donated" the use of my gear for charity without my permission, and brought back my gear late and missing items amongst other annoyances.
Well, it seems he did try to go into business for himself.
Turns out that he's about as reliable as some of you (and my hubby) predicted he would be.
I had a woman show up just before my Thursday show begging me to host her party the following night (Friday) because the very same host called her an hour before and told her he wouldn't be showing up for her party of 100 guests the next night. She was beside herself. Poor woman. I really felt for her.
How unprofessional of him!
I'm sorry to say, that I wasn't able to pick up that particular gig on such short notice, but I did pass on the number of another semi-retired host I thought might be able to help her.
Looks like his unreliability will come back to bite him in the behind and might even bolster my own good reputation!
I've missed only ONE show in the past, but only because I had emergency gall bladder surgery earlier that day and was in the hospital. But I was back the following week and even when I had my last knee surgery, I was there to host right on schedule 3 days later.
Thanks for your support when all the probs with this guy happened a while back, and thanks for such an accurate prediction of how things would turn out.

Sometimes I hate it when I'm right.

In this case, it's actually kind of good, in a way, that you were right. He's only bolstering my rep while ruining his own, which is really what he deserves....

What's the latest with you taking legal actions against him for the money he owes you? Have you pursued that yet?

Well, I wanted to take him to court, however, hubby has advised me to leave it at this point. He thinks that karma will get him and it's much better to appear to be the bigger person than to "start" an war with him. My opinion? He started it in the first place and I would love to hit him in the pocketbook like he did me, but again, hubby thinks it's better to lose the battle and win the war.
So there we sit.

I'm like you; I would be busting to take him to court. It might not be worth it though. Just be glad you figured him out before he did too much damage.

It's fair to say that sometimes I get bookings because of other "less professional" hosts.
