I'll be hosting a NYE Karaoke/ DJ Party and more than likely starting up again a weekly gig in January.
Want to bring my Library up to date, last purhcase was back in the summer let say JULY. I don't want to go out and just buy the last 6 months of releases, I would rather BUY what is being sung. I KNOW THIS IS AREA AND VENUE SPECIFIC but if anyone would be kind to list what are the NEW songs being SUNG ..(key word is SUNG). It would help me in my purhchasing decision.

Our area is notoriously oldies country but Zac Brown Band has broken through with "Chicken Fried" and "Toes." We also had someone asking for weeks for "Cowboy Casanova" and "Need You Now" but they haven't returned to actually sing them yet. Don't know how it willl play in N.J.

How new are you looking for? This year or within the last few - or 'new' to karaoke in general?
In our club - the new this year songs that actually get sung (not necessarily regularly though)
Sometime Around Midnight - Airborne Toxic Event
Address In The Stars - Caitlin & Will
Big Green Tractor - Jason Aldean
Cheater Cheater - Joey & Rory
Poker Face - Lady Gaga
Dead Flowers - Miranda Lambert
Use Somebody - Kings Of Leon
Sex Is On Fire - Kings Of Leon
Something In Your Mouth - Nickelback
Nine In The Afternoon - Panic At The Disco
Second Chance - Shinedown

Don't have a lot of people who typically sing new stuff but here is what I can recommend: (some are from kids' show - kids are more likely to tackle the newest stuff)
All Lady Gaga's stuff - Poker Face, Just Dance, Paparazzi
Colbie Caillat
Duffy -- Probably a little esoteric but I do have an amazingly talented singer who sings all of Duffy's stuff. I'm the only other one who sings Duffy, though.
All King of Leon - Sex on Fire, Use Somebody (I just ordered some other stuff but haven't received it yet - there are people waiting to sing it.)
Coldplay -- newest stuff. (Can't think of names right now).
Shinedown
C. Underwood - Cowboy Casanova
What I do is go to the radio station play lists - choose the top 3 of three different genres, see what they've been playing - there will probably be a connection between what people have been listening to on the radio and what they'll choose to sing when it comes to newer stuff.

^ I love doing Kings of Leon.
I never understand why so many people in karaoke always do the same songs...week after week! It gets tiring. You always know who's gonna sing what.
and you are right about the kids. My local mall had a karaoke day during the summer time and all the little kids would do mostly new songs... Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, etc.

Alright! I like to tackle the new stuff. Am I a 40+ yr old kid? I know, to some of you people I am.
Karen, that's a great idea with the radio stations. That never even crossed my mind.

Got an e from Sunfly - they have the new Alice in Chains song already - something about 'my brain.' Gawd I hate a fleeting memory. Sunfly offers MP4 downloads, CDGs, DVDs, etc. Did they do that before? They must have gotten my e-mail from Select-a-Track? Of course they're top latest releases will be a little different than ours with exceptions because they're across the pond.

It seems alot of the UK manus are working together as far as customs/downloads.
