Do in-wall PA speakers exist? If so, can someone name a few. If not, how about some on-wall type that's not too intrusive. I'm looking for a solution to not have to set up and tear down every time I karaoke at home. Current setup is power PA speakers on stand. Thanks in advance. |

I use HT speakers for my home system with no problems what so ever. I have a total of (12) Bose cubes in arrays of (2), with (2) Bose subs (non-powered). I have (4) right front, (4) left front, (2) right rear and (2) left rear. The subs are at oppisite sides of the room. My Room size is about 16' by 28' with 12' ceilings. My cubes are placed high (10' or so)and aimed slightly downward and inward. I will have to say that I can crank up my system as loud as you can stand it and it will easily handle vocals. The Bose cubes are what are inside the Bose L1 units. I have been using the same cubes for almost (5) years and have not had to replace a single one. I love the sound because Bose speakers do a very good job of producing crystal clear vocals. The Bose "L1 Compact" for $999 would be another option. Mrmarog |

Generally, in-wall PA speakers are going to be 70 volt paging system style speakers. There are plenty of selections out there that could handle the application you're looking at. 70 volt systems are a little different that what we typically discuss here but they do have some pretty cool advantages. 70 volt systems are usually used where you need a lot of speakers distributed over a large area. They offer the ability to have seperate volume control at each speaker and offer huge flexibility in the speaker configurations. I'm not aware of any traditional passive PA options that offer in-wall installation options. |

Thanks for the responses. So I went and googled 70V speaker system and wow there's a bunch. What am I looking for exactly? How do I know which one is a PA type and not just for music application? I hope I asked that right. Thanks. |

I would look at Eletro-Voice and Yorkville to start with. Both have some pretty good options to choose from. These from EV might be a good place to start: http://www.proacousticsusa.com/productd ... ?pId=11110 All this said, I personally don't like the idea of in-wall speakers for a live audio application. Your best audio still comes from speakers held in an enclosure that was designed for them and for the best possible audio response. Sticking them inside a wall certainly doesn't have the same characteristics. |
