Post subject:  How do you make MP3G files compatible with your iPod- Very frustrated

Hi All,

I'm wondering if I am making this more complicated than it needs to be. Is there a program that can take my mp3g files
song.mp3
song.cdg

and make it compatible with my iPod? (I'm guessing it would be an mp4 format?)

I got an iLive Karaoke Machine (this one: http://www.ilive.net/store/p/62-CD-G-Ka ... iPod-.aspx)

The problem I'm having is that a lot of my karaoke music that I've gotten is in the above format and I don't think iTunes/the iPod is recognizing it. I can dock the iPod and it will play the music but it won't display the lyrics. Here is what the FAQ says on the website:

" Why do the karaoke songs I have purchased from iTunes fail to display the lyrics of my music? "

• The reason your karaoke songs do not display lyrics on your iPod's screen is that you have purchased karaoke music only, rather than a file that includes a combination of both music and lyrics.
• Before purchasing karaoke tracks, make sure you are purchasing karaoke music of the mp4 file extension or tracks that have been guaranteed by the distributor as being able to output lyrics to your screen.
There are programs available that have the ability to rip your existing CD+G karaoke CDs into music files with the mp4 file extension.

So if you can rip CDG to MP4, I'm sure you can rip MP3G to MP4, right? I really hope someone knows the answers to this. I'd rather not burn a bunch of CDG's if I can just run them from my iPod!

ps- I do karaoke just for fun (I'm actually a rather bad singer...lol) so it's just for fun.

TIA!!!!

I just downloaded karaokeanywhere for the Ipod for $1.99. You upload your cdg-mp3 in zip format via ip. Works Great.

This program works well. I bought a license when I was fooling around with using iTunes to do karaoke instead of RoxBox. I did not like the way I was having to enter songs into the iTunes database though (no ID3 tags in iTunes video files), so I did not pursue it.
