Hello,
I've been reading tons of posts on this board, and hope you can help! My SO got me a karaoke machine (Singing Machine SMD-568) for xmas. It's limited (as I'm sure you know) in that it only plays CDGs and limits the types of media I use for songs. Yeah, sound isn't great, but I don't own a home theater system of any sort (no amps, speakers or monitors in my house) and it was a nice idea for a gift, so I'm trying to figure out how to best use it.
I've been going through the options, and here's what I came up with:
1) Use Karaoke machine, connect it to the DVD player, and use both for CDGs and VCDs. What I want to know is, if it has AUX outputs, can I somehow connect it to my DVD player and use it as an amp/speaker?
2) Return the Karaoke machine, buy a karaoke player like RJ-100PK. If I do this, will I still have to buy new speakers or can I use my TV built-in speakers? And what is the difference between an amp, speaker, and monitor?
3) Return Karaoke machine, buy Karaoke mixer and attach it to my DVD player. If I do this, will I still have to buy new speakers or can I use my TV built-in speakers? And what is the difference between an amp, speaker, and monitor?
FYI, I had been thinking about converting my laptop (MacBook pro) into a karaoke machine as well, but it seemed pretty complex. I'd like to start out simpler and after I get a better feel of the electronics, have the option to use my laptop as the primary source of music in the future. In terms of mics, I already own a SM58, so I'm not worried about that.
Thanks for your help!
