For those of you that use wired mics, exactly which mic cables do you consider the best quality for holding up over the long haul and carrying the cleanest signal? I started with Livewire but they didn't last very long. Then I tried Monster Performer 500. MUCH better sound recreation! Now I'm wondering what other cables out there might be just as good or even better. I've read good things about Mogami as well as Canare. |

I just use LiveWire, lifetime warrantied & when one goes bad, I take it back to GC & exchange for a new one. Haven't paid for a mic cable in almost 10 years. I have tried better cables as well, I heard a slight difference but not much. |

You really only noticed a small difference? I only ask because I have the monster cables going to the singers' mics while I have a Livewire cable on mine. All mics are identical (Shure Betas) going through the same mixer with the same settings. Even the boss, who doesn't have much of an ear, complains that I never sound as clear using my mic as when I use one of the singer mics. |

I wasn't using Monster cables, they were Mogami gold. Like I said I heard an improvement, but not that much that would be worth the extra $$. Although all my drivers are due to be replaced in my speakers, that is probably why the difference wasn't that great. |

I use the cheap Whirlwind cables, EMC20 I think they are called, which can be had on eBay in a box of 20 cables, 20 foot length each, for about $100. I use them for karaoke and band inputs that do not move around, e.g. drum/instrument mics, but not for vocal mics. I also use these EWI cables in various lengths. They cost a bit more but are of much better quality. http://www.audiopile.net/products/Mic_I ... heet.shtml |

It's not the price that makes a great mic cable. It's the construction. I make up my own LowZ XLR cables. I prefer nutrick connectors, and canare quad cable. I am actually using a quad bulk cable. I purchase it in bulk by the foot, and make up my mic, and 1/4" and RCA line cables using the same cable. Remember this little piece of advice if you never purchase another piece of gear. Your system, no matter how expensive, or complex, is ONLY as good as the cables you use to connect it together with. Good cables, and a good power conditioner are a must. Don't worry about brand. Monster stuff is just so so, yet high priced. |

What is y'all's opinion on Canare quad cables vs. Mogami quad cables? |
