Ok so I can hook up my laptop to a VIDEO type splitter using the following
S-video out of the Laptop to a S-video to RCA adapter to the the splitter. (2) Rca's able out of the splitter. I RCA to my "TV" monitor and the other to the venues BIG SCREEN TV.

I want to use A PC MONITOR ( VGA out of Laptop) to VGA in of the Monitor..But how do I connect to the venues TV using RCA type connections ?? I assume I still need some type of splitter and converters ?

Best is this.

video da

You have 4 outputs for s-video or RCA (they cant be mixed) I run s-video from laptop to this and RCA thru a snake to monitor and big screen. I still have 2 more RCA outs.

I think the easiest way would be this:
http://www.provantage.com/grandtec-gez- ... RND00K.htm

You can run your VGA out to it, and then from that you have a vga out and an RCA out. Use a splitter if you need multiple RCA signals but that's the easiest way to get both VGA and RCA.

I use something like Tony suggested(different brand) I velcroed it to the inside wall of my rack and ran cables from it to a dish mounted flush to the outside. When I walk into any venue my system has several options of video outputs. I even do something similar with the audio so I can plug right into a house system.

I have a question..... And right now, it isn't that important, as I probably won't be back at this place until Halloween....

I have a 13 inch CRT TV that I use as my Monitor for Karaoke. I also have an RF Modulator (bought from Radioshack over 10 years ago) that I use along with a Splitter so that I am able to hook my system and use 2 screens as monitors. Simple.....

This place that I do 2 shows a year at (Halloween and New Year's Eve) renovated their place last year. They got all new Flat Screen TVs in the place (to replace all their old CRT screens). They are all hooked up to a Cable or Satellite system (I don't know which). When I was there this past Halloween, and I hooked up my usual way (by removing their coax from the back and hooking my coax (for my splitter) in its place), I was getting a Black and White picture on their screen while my TV was still in color.

My Modulator is set at Channel 3 and Antenna. I tried switching the Antenna switch to Modulator, and rehooked my Coax into the different input, but could not get any signal. So, I just kept it at the settings I know.

Any ideas why I would be getting a Black and Whit picture on a Color screen?

Cue, I had a similar problem when I first went to the laptop format. I couldn't get any color picture at all. Found out that my s-video cord was defective. Replaced it with a different type, one of the clearish ones, and found out that one was a "one-direction" cable. It would only work if plugged in one way, and not turned around. The same thing happened if it wasn't plugged in correctly, a black and white picture. So, I bought another s-video cable from a different store, and that one worked like a charm. Another time, when I used to use coax from my RF modulator to the tv's, the tip of the center wire inside the cable itself broke off so it was slightly too short to contact properly, giving me bad picture quality, usually color would go in and out.

Just a thought. Scott

I'm running into the same problem. My laptop is older and doesn't have s-video out. I have been unable to find out what adapter (card) I would need to hook up to s-video or composite (RCA) on my monitor. All I see is video capture and it doesn't look like those cards have video out. Any that do say DVI or HDMI and I don't have that on my monitor.

HELP!!!! :withstupid:

My TV Monitor doesn't have an s-video connection... Just an Antenna (Co-ax) connection or an RCA Video jack connection. I have no problem at the other place where I do a bi-weekly show. I get Color on both my TV and the Flat screen that I split into (so I know it's not my wires).

Am I missing something here? My laptop does not have an S-video port. It has an external VGA port, but the documentation says that I have to have an additional graphics card to run "Dual" monitors. The units recommended here look like they assume you are going to an external monitor AND some TV type monitor for cdg. I'm trying to use my laptop screen for the Host program and be able to move the CDG graphics window to a"second" screen which would be my TV type NTSC monitor which has and S-video Port and composite RCA connectors.

I have been unable to locate a proper graphics card that attaches either through the cardbus slot or USB that allows this configuation. I would like a multi port so that I can hook up TV that the audience can see also.

IN addition, I also have an USB external sound card and am looking at getting a USB external drive. I assume I will need a USB hub to make this work as I only have 2 USB ports.

Does anyone else have this problem (and a solution to go along with it)? :withstupid:

Good morning, i saw where you responded to my newbie post asking how i solved my laptop to tv problem, well, i am just getting into this thing, the laptop you buy these days dosen't have the s video out, so i just came out of my vga out into a sewell pc to tv converter, the converter hooks into my vga port and has a vga pass through which i run a 50' vga cable taped to my snake to the house tv, then i run the rca out of my converter into my 1/4 inch input of my snake, from the other end of my snake i run a rca cable to the singers tv. very clean and clear picture. This setup works very well.

Thanks for the info. Does your laptop allow for dual monitors so you can send the CDG window to the tv's but keep the host program windows on the laptop screen? :withstupid:

That's where I have my problem. My laptop doesn't have on-board dual monitor capability. It says I have to use an external graphics card for the second monitor. Most I've seen go from USB to VGA (not s-video or RCA). I wonder if one of these gadgets with just a VGA to S-video cable would work for what I want.

Any help it greatly appreciated. Next obvious step is a new laptop or go with a desktop. :withstupid:

Some computer mfgs disabled that dual screen function.. Not sure why..

I had an IBM with composite out, and a windows update killed the dual screen ability.

Not sure why..

I use a Toshiba laptop with only the VGA out.
I enabled the second desktop, and all is well.

However, not all systems are the same.. Micro$oft has a say in what is sold..

Not sure why..

Can't understand why the laptop would have vga out if it couldn't extend to an external monitor...??..have you tried connecting an external monitor then going to screen properties? Once connected you should be offered the chance to "extend your desktop to the 2nd screen.

because the VGA out could be used to connect to an external monitor or projector to display instead of the laptop display. Dual monitor capability allows different displays on 2 different monitors simultaneously, i.e. karaoke display for singers.

Learn something new hear everyday....I always assumed if you could clone a
desktop that the capability to extend would also be available...guess not always.

the one put up by classickaraoke had ratings MUCH higher than all the rest on amazon. usually means it is the best, but not always. I have lived and died my those ratings in general. They do me right about 19 out of 20 times when there are enough reviews, as in this case. :2cents: Good Luck!

?? Once you extend your desktop to the second monitor, then your host program's Karaoke display then just needs dragging across to the second screen, and stretching to fit, thus giving you two different screens. If you want ANOTHER screen (3)...then just use a VGA splitter. Confused now..... :?
