If you purchase such formats, do you find songs on those discs that are hard to find on CDG? Generally speaking, how do you compare the videos as compared to the CDG graphics? Do you play the discs in a Deck or do you use a computer, or both? Has anyone ripped the discs to computer files? |

Quote: do you find songs on those discs that are hard to find on CDG Yes, examples: John Denver Disc live concert vcd multiplex Air Supply 2-Discs set, live concert vdc multiplex Lobo 2-discs set, original artist video vcd Bee Gees 2Discs set many others. all the above have the artist in the video and vocal backing track Quote: how do you compare the videos as compared to the CDG graphics much better, but then i have very limited experience with cdg Quote: Do you play the discs in a Deck or do you use a computer we use dvd player Quote: Has anyone ripped the discs to computer files

I've got 3 CDV's (or are the VCD's) in my library. 2 ABBA discs (Original Artists series) and one mixed disc (I don't recal the Manu). When I play them in my CDG player, I have to hit the Left Balance OFF so that it mutes out the main Vocal. Then I have to remember to set my machine bck to normal. Even with the main vocal removed, I can still hear it (slightly). Quaility-wise, the music and word-swipes were very good. I just don't need to look for more because I already have the songs in regualr CDG format. If they had more music that I was looking for, and didn't already have on a CDG, I might consider getting more. |

I had those ABBA vcd 2-set discs, but lost them (someone borrow them and never return them) Yes, the 'guild' vocal for the Air Supply can still be heard even when it is supposed to be mute. This may be because of vocal signal leaking to the music track during live recording. |

I only have original artist DVDs. The two Taylor Swift discs and the 36 track Queen DVD from Japan. I ripped the the DVDs to xVID avis video using autoGK I think. It plays through winamp along with the mp3+cdg files from everything else. I'd only do this really for tracks that are original artist with original music video, anything else I'd keep with cdg. It looks really good but the files are about ten times the size of a high quality mp3+cdg pair, of course that being said it's only $100 for a 1.5TB drive now so space isn't really an issue! Jonn |

I have a collection of Hevi karaoke metal DVDs that got used a lot at a previous venue - not so much now, but very good stuff. (Finnish) Lots of obscure and not so obscure stuff. I think they have a series of five with a lot of songs on each. They also make a Pantera "bandoke" and Kiss "bandoke" and one other which I'm not remembering right now - you can choose what you want to hear, and cords are on the screen -- great for a "rockaroke" or whatever, where bands are playing for karaoke singers. |
