Hi im new to Karaoke, and just testing the waters, and to this end
i jave purchased a QTXsound Karaoke mixer kit, which is suppose to convert a DVD player into a karaoke system.
Thing is the instructions are far to basic and not informative enough for me.

The kit has a mixer, 2 mics, and one RCA lead. On the back of the unit are L R & video in and L R video out.

i have connected the outputs to my DVD player, and it seems to work in a fashion but sound from mics is too low and near to non existent and when you turn sound up for dvd you get washed out by it. So i thought i would connect to TV and and see what happens. I get a much better sound from mics, only thing is when i start the dvd the tv changes channel to suit and i loose sound from mixer which is on a different channel.

I am stuck, any help please will be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you may need to add an amp.. (Boost up the output)

Do you have any links to the actual product?
Most of those karaoke kits are just an external box that the DVD & mics would need to plug into then run out to the PA - in this case I am assuming your stereo.

Hi Lonman

Here is the product page.

http://avslgroup.com/product/103.112UK

Yow will see the pdf instruction manual also on this page.

So i have a DVD a TV and this box, and only one RCA cable supplied, so from the instructions i cant work out what to connect to what.

With the one RCA cable supplied, i am assuming i need to connect into my DVD which has home cinema speakers attached, but i am not getting much output from the mics as my previous post.

What exactly does the mixer do, does it mix the two mics and send the out put to an amplifier, or does it mix the mics and the DVD sound to send to an amplifier, in which case i would need two RCA cables. ?

Cheers

After reading the manual, this mixer just inserts microphones into the audio channel of your DVD player. The basic connection steps should be to:
1. Disconnect existing audio/video connection input to your TV.
2. Connect that input to your mixer.
3. Connect the audio/video output of the mixer to the TV (use the new A/V cable you received with the Kit.

Now, with the home theater system installed, connect the audio from the DVD to the mixer input and then connect the mixer output to the theater audio input connection. You don’t have to run the video through the mixer if you don’t want to. When using a separate audio system, the mixer’s video connection really serves no other purpose than to be a connecter. It really never did.

Hi JR

Thanks for help, but can i clarify something.

1. Disconnect existing audio/video connection input to your TV.
I only have scart connection from DVD to TV. So i disconnect this ?

2. Connect that input to your mixer.
As my karaoke box only accepts RCA cables i assume you now mean connect a new RCA cable (white, yellow & red connectors) from my DVD output to my karaoke box (white, yellow & red) input ?

3. Connect the audio/video output of the mixer to the TV (use the new A/V cable you received with the Kit.
Now i use the RCA lead provided in the kit to connect output (white, yellow & red) of karaoke to RCA input ( white, yellow & red) on TV ?

Now, with the home theater system installed, connect the audio from the DVD to the mixer input and then connect the mixer output to the theater audio input connection.

I am stuck on this one as i have no connections left on my karaoke box ?
Have i not already done this in steps 1 to 3 ??

Have i read you right

Cheers
