I recently stopped at the Karaoke Store by me and they had a sale on Music maestro cdgs. They are clearing them out at 10.00 each. Does any one recommend these for professional use and if so are there anyones in particular that are very good? |

Aside from the Velvet Elvis collection I would stay away from them. |

Music Maestro DOES have a claim to fame- OLDIES! Many of which are done better than anyone else- duets iincluded. Look for your 50's, 60's, and even some early 70's, and you will be getting a great deal. Not for current pop, country, etc. though..... |

Ten dollars is a complete rip-off. I wouldn't buy them at any price -- in general they are a terrible brand. I was fooled early on because they had a few decent tracks, but having watched a lot of their stuff come up on my favorite gig's CAVS machine over time, MM is overall terrible. I purged my collection of them -- you could have my 10 or 11 disks if you came over and picked them out of my reject shoebox. You would be much better served to pay $120.00 for one hundred Tricerasoft downloads. You would get stuff you wanted at a vastly better level of quality. Or buy a Chartbuster Essentials collection for $150.00. That's only $5.00 a disk for much better music. |

I wouldn't pay $10 per for any of them. They have some ok country tracks, but disagree with ANYTHING 70's rock that I have. Some of THE WORST (even further down than SGB) tracks i've owned. Granted I only have a few of the 70's rock/pop, I think numbers 6054, 6026, a James Taylor/Billy Joel/Barry Manilow disc, they are terrible. Somebody gave me a rap disc that is so bad I can't even list it, the people that have tried a couple songs have actually walked off stage because the songs were unrecognizeable - probably why it was given to me, even the guy that gave it don't sing off of it. Now I do have a few country that are tolerable, and even one 90's disc that is passable, other than that I steer clear from these unless as a last resort. |

Their Doo Wop collection is pretty darn good. |

I agree with most of the others here that don't like Music Maestro. I am actually embarrassed when I have to play one of their renditions. But, luckily, I don't own more that about 6 discs of them, just horrid IMO. |

The $60 I spent on the entire Velvet Elvis collection is one of my best investments. I tried to substitute other brands for some of the songs if we had them and found the Elvis people preferred the MM. The doo wop is almost as good but has some embarrassing lyrics mess-ups on some songs. Anything else MM I don't really like. But $10/disc seems steep for even the good ones considering some of the major karaoke suppliers will group them into sets and sell them more cheaply. |

The rap disc is MM6170 and has the worst versions of Ice Ice Baby, Shoop, and California Love I've ever heard. The rest of the disc is not much better. In fact the only MM song that I do think is a decent version is Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long To Stop Now". Hands down the best version I've had the pleasure of performing at shows. And I believe it's available via Tricerasoft. |

I agree with everyone else that MM is pretty bad. If you're looking for something relatively inexpensive, I've recently stumbled upon a couple of brands that just might be one of the best kept secrets. The first is Country Karaoke Classics. As the name implies, they just do country but I am amazed at just how well they do it. I can't believe the quality you're getting for the price they're selling at. I haven't heard them all but the ones I did listen to, I would rank right up there with Chartbuster. Here's a link: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/tsckaraoke/Categories?category=Country+Karaoke+Classics The second company, and this one really blew me away, is called Singers Dream. I think they might be a division of Pocket Songs. They cost more than CK but again the quality is outstanding. I got the Neil Diamond one and let me tell you, "America" sounds exactly like the record or should I say CD. Of all the versions I've heard, nobody could get the orchastral beginning of the song right, although Chartbuster did an admirable job, but this one is right on the money especially for the price, about 9 bucks. Here...listen: http://www.amazon.com/gp/recsradio/radi ... 8&disc=001 So, while they're not perfect, for the money they are an excellent value. Alan |

I have several CKC disks, and they are nowhere near as good as Chartbuster. Here are the numbers I have: [pre] CKC001 CKC003 CKC005 CKC007 CKC009 CKC017 CKC020 CKC022 CKC026 CKC041 CKC044[/pre] Not a one is as good as CB, and I have removed the songs from my system. |

I agree, I use chartbuster almost excluslively. Didn't mean to imply that they're better than CB and I only bought a couple of them is because the songs I wanted were'nt available from CB. Like I said, theyre not perfect but again, for the money, not bad either. You could do a lot worse...like SGB. |

But they have a couple people who know how to play a guitar and sing backup vocals, which helps a lot. CKC is heavily and audibly MIDI. |

A few songs can't be found except on MM. This includes some that you would have expected other people would have made. THat said the quality is not always as good, and some of them have problems with graphics as MP3+G from tricerasoft where the first screen does not refresh correctly and the singer has to know the first set of lyrics. This is a problem with only a combination of some karaoke software and some of the MM songs, but it is very embarasing for the KJ when it happens. Sound wise you can often do better for 80-s 90s rock. |
