I promise myself I would never ever buy from them again but I gave them one last chance and went ahead and purchase their Super-X CX2310 crossover, well, it probably blow my sub and almost started a fire!! I had in mind to only use it with my 8" active home theater sub to fill in what my Wharfedale Diamond 8.2a couldn't give, so I didn't need to spend more if it's just for my sub and not my tops So I was curious and went ahead and tried my Diamond on it and was quite surprised, I had a pretty good balanced sound so I left it connected all weekend This morning at about 6:00 am I heard that strange vibration in the baseman It was that crappy Behringer sending a very low frenquencie at high output to my sub, just imagine how the woofer was freaking out and how bad it smell in the room I turned it off right away and that strange sound went to my Diamond monitors, so I don't really know how long they took the beating!! NEVER, NEVER DO I ever want to see that name again in my house It's not a saving folks, spend the extra for a real brand |

I can understand the Behringer issue. I've used numerous products of theirs, and the only ones that haven't "self destructed" are the power amps. The amps are good, but the rest of their stuff is crap. I run two of the power amps at 2 ohm loads 6 days a week with no problems, but everything else from them (mixers, crossovers, compressors, speakers, etc) has been total crap. It appears they only do one thing well. I've learned my lesson. |

I have used a lot of Behringer stuff and I've never had any issues with them. The only thing I was disappointed in was when they went from their speaker boxes being constructed out of wood to being constructed out of plastic. Man! Did those wooden boxes ever sound good! But the trade of in weight was a decent one, I guess. As for the OT: And yeah, I'm with timberlea . Why would you leave it on? |

I used Behringer products in the past and for the majority of time was happy with my purchases. You should know what you are buying -- decent equipment for a decent price. Most of their products compete with entry lever gear of the "quality guys"....in some cases I've found the equipment JUST AS GOOD as higher priced gear from the other guys. THEN there are times when it's no so good . If I had to vote on the O/P I'm voting user error also |

If it was gonna go, it was gonna go. I do always power down all components of my system when not in use including my backup speakers, Behringer 215as |

Well I can't agree more Don't see what's this turning off thing got anything to do with the fact that it broked down The sub has an auto shut off so it was turned off and these devices don't need to be turned off, a mixer and amp ok but has anyone seen a power switch on a DBX or Lexicon processor??? In fact, electronic will last longer when it's always turned on and I can easely testify that it it's true, my HK 7725 cd player has been on for something like 20 years except when a tunder storm is expected Same with a home receiver, about the same years But to be honest, I should have turned it off and keep it off at all times, it's how a Behringer should be used I got my RA number and it will be replaced by the DBX 223XL, I should got this in the first place I tried getting a DOD but they can't sell in Canada |

Perhaps I should have said unplug it. My understanding of electricity in appliances/electronics is that if they are plugged in, even though they are turned off, electricity still circuits through them. |

My mixer, that I bought on suggestion of a member here, is still going strong. I'm not a KJ, but trust me it gets as much use as if I was, I use it for karaoke at home but also for band practice. Three years ago I got it... I think it was. Behringer has always been a bit of a sore subject here, hasn't it? |

Behringer has always been a bit of a sore subject here, hasn't it? YES You rarely hear about the one who bought a "TOP OF LINE" piece of equipment only to have it malfunction and need it to be replaced.-- Behringer is decent equipment for a great price. When people sit and compare a $200 piece of Behringer equipment against a $600 piece from someone else I laugh. Of course it's NOT AS GOOD AS ......But Behringer can and does do a GREAT JOB in many areas and for people on a budget. |

Behringer is a mixed bag. I won't touch their mixers but I do have a few of their comps and ultra-curves. I've never tried their speakers or amps but have heard and seen them in use, I'm not a fan. Back in the day when their stuff was made in Germany, their comps were sought after and extremely popular. Since moving their manufacturing to Asia, the quality has really suffered. Get the DBX Crossover, you'll be way more happy with that than any DOD product (I'd put DOD right there with Behringer if not lower). As far as shutting it off, it would have likely failed either way. However by only having it turned on when you're in front of it, you'd have assured that you'd have been there to take action before it blew your drivers. I don't leave PA equipment running unattended, it's just not good practice in my mind. But at the same time, a crossover shouldn't lead to that type of behavior either. I would recommend checking the incoming A/C it was connected to. A power spike or a shift/change in ground reference could cause unpredictable problems like this. |

Exactly my case. I had less than $1,000 to buy new stuff (i had speakers and mics already)... and I got the mixer and a new RSQ triple tray for a little over $600. Rewiring my speakers and buying the new speakon cables was like $50. So I was happy. Of course, the first one I ordered flunked out on me right off the bat, it was a factory dud... but you can get a bad one of anything. I sent it back and the one they replaced it with still works perfectly. If I had unlimited funds (or even more funds) I don't know what I'd have got- probably the same setup but added new/better speakers. (they're next on my list) |

Thanks for your recommendation on the DBX, they'll be sending me the 223XL with a $100.00 more but I'm sure it's worth the extra Yes, I should have shut it down but do people really shut everything down in a studio Like I said, there's no on/off switch on my Lexicon MPX 110 or my DBX compressor and how about my monitors, the switch is located in the back The device if really broken, I tried it again before packing it back, it's sending a low signal at full level I know I'm been hard with Behringer, I had some of their products before and didn't have problems with all of them but the things you read about them is simply incredible!! I had to order from the states because no local retailers wants to carry the brand anymore, it's a special order they say due to a high level of returns |

There are some here no longer carrying them either. Sweetwater is a major Pro Audio outlet that won't touch them. |

We carry Behringer and really haven't had that many returns, all told. Most of what we've sold has held out really well. |

In our recording studio, all the racks have power distribution with a master switch (i.e. Furman Power Strips). Those all get shut off when we leave the studio, which includes the pro-tools control surface and computer. In rare cases where we've left some equipment turned on, we never leave the amplifiers turned on. That way no matter what any of the other equipment does we know the speakers are safe and nothing gets damaged. |

I have behringer products i've used daily for over five years now. Behringer has an important position in the sound and music world. I wished back in the late 60's when i was in school bands we had behringer. Instead as a teen we used hand me down worn out amps mics and pa gear, and whatever else we could get our hands on. For 19.95 the Behringer XM8500 with over 200 Musicians Friend positive reviews, is proving itself to be a great little mic over the long haul. For 20 bucks, show me a better mic. So before you paint a company with a broad brush, consider price VS quality. Not only do you get what you pay for, but in the case of the XM8500, you get many times over on your return. Nope..i'm not a Behringer dealer, and i don't actually have that many behringer products that i use. However, people keep complaining, yet keep buying..never could figure that one out. I'm just glad young folks just starting out forming a high school band, who beg for an amplifier, or mic, or stomp box. The parents in this economy can still offer them something..Thank You Behringer..your a blessing. |
