I am a home user with a CAVS 203-G, but I'm looking to upgrade to a laptop-mixer/amp-speakers configuration. I will mainly be using it in my living room, but want the option to host private parties for friends in a small banquet room space as well. I saw in another post many of you recommend the Mackie DXF6 mixer. Any recommendations for speakers to go with that mixer for my application? I'm pretty clueless about these types of DJ setups....Thanks for your help!

For your situation i'd probably opt for a powered speaker like the Mackie SRM450 or JBL EON315 or EON515. These would cover a small banquet hall with no problem. Also look at the B52 Matrix 1000, nice little system that adds a powered sub as well, little more bulk to it, but would work well in a home as well that can be packed up & moved out of sight when not in use.
