Ok this is how i hooked it all up,does everything look good?

zed 12fx from mains i have 3 foot xlr cables going to the yamaha qo2o31b eq
from the eq out i have for now 15 foot xlr cable to 1/4 inch in on the Yamaha P5000S amp.
from the bbe sonic maximizer 882i i have xlr to 1/4 inch insert cables going to the l/r inserts next to main inputs.
The dbx 231 i have 1/4 inch insert cables going to mic channel on zed, only have to do 2 mics

i've never used a separate amp before and i found i had to have the knobs turned up almost 3/4 of the way before i got sound out of my speakers yamha br-15's,does that sound right?i guess i was expecting them to act more like volume control knobs and they don't appear to act that way.

At first i couldn't get anything out of the bbe and oopsy i had the channels crossed!

i have some hum from the eq,hoping shorter cables help.

if i get any more equipment i'm going to have to run another dedicated outlet here soon Lol

One of my problems i see i'm going to have to deal with is that when i run compuhost,i'm not getting any sound out of the speakers.I configured compuhost to use the audio codec, checked volumes and speakers but nothing so far.just trying to take it slow

Proper way would be:

Main out from mixer to Eq to BBE to amp.

You really don't need and EQ and a BBE.

The input gains on the amp should be all the way up.

The volume is the main out on your mixer.

Drop the Yamaha EQ (most likely your hum source), replace with the dbx 231. Mixer to dbx eq, eq to amp. Run the BBE as you are with the insert - will work fine. You do not need a 31 band eq for mics.
Like said the mixer is basically the preamp, in this case it sounds like wide open on the amp will work best - those aren't volume controls, they are attenuators to match the mixer to the amp - I tend to run my amps wide open 95% of the time. Your main volume will be the main fader on the mixer.

ah i wrote the one wrong,i don't have a dbx231 i meant dbx 266xl compressor, that's why they are going to mic input so i can compress mics not music.
So mixer to eq,eq to amp,bbe to inserts (since it's more a frequency aligner not an eq)then 266 to mic channel.
i got the usb going for compuhost after downloading asio4all,i'm using 64 bit windows 7

Thank you all for the help

Check that you are using a balanced XLR to TRS cable from your mixer to your amplifier. A TRS cable will have two black circles around the 1/4" jack, separating the metal surface into three conductors called "tip," "ring," and "sleeve." If it only has one black circle, it is a TS connector, which is unbalanced. Balanced signaling cables are more resistant to electrical noise.

If your cable is not the XLR to TRS kind then replace it with a new/different cable.

Also, make sure all your equipment is plugged into a common power source. It should all go into a power strip, rack-mount power distributor, or similar device; and that should go into one wall outlet. (This changes if you get bigger, but for karaoke, this is the most "fool-proof" way.)
