For Karaoke in a family room size of 20 ft x 18 ft, which speaker is a better choice? Mackie MR5 Active Studio Monitor, $179 each, or Behringer B205D Active PA Speaker, $ 149 each |

I would go for something 12" or so -- at that price point you basically have the Harbinger. I have seen 8" speakers in a similar size room, and just don't like them. 5" speakers don't seem like they would be worth that much. If you have a current home theater system, you could consider playing the music portion on that and using those speakers for vocals only. |

Along the lines of what mckyj57 said, if you're going to get those smaller studio monitors, they would work but you'll want to get the matching sub-woofer as well. Of the two sets you proposed, I'd recommend the Mackies over the Behringers. |

Between 12" Harbinger and 5" Mackie at similar price point, which one would you recommend then? BTW, I can not find Mackie subwoofer listed on Musician's Friend under Recording, Subwoofer. Am I looking at the wrong place? Thanks. |
