Hello friends..
Hope you all are having great time. My bro was looking to purchase his very first Karaoke player and after some research he narrowed down to Acesonic DGX-109. I thought to ask from experts before any purchase. Wondering does anyone have any experience with Acesonic equipment? Well, its a multi format player and play MP3-gs from USB hard drives, Jump drives and SD cards. It also plays CDGs, DVDs and has 5.1 surround sound. With this unit we don't need any laptop or computer.
So whats your views and thoughts.
Thanks..

The features sound great, but I would think about it a bit more. Are you planning on using this at home or as a pro KJ?
Here are the drawbacks I would foresee:
1) Acesonic is a very consumer-level product. If you are going to use this professionallly, I would bet it isn't going to stand up to rigorous use.
2) It may sound nice to play all of your MP3G files directly from the player, but I bet it is a PAIN to navigate. Think about it, if you want to play the 1,253rd song in your hard drive, how do you find it? Also, you'll note that the the player only supports up to a 16G drive. That's fine for home use, but WAYYY to small for a pro KJ.
So, I'd say if you are going to use it at home, this machine doesn't look that bad, but it isn't anywhere close to a pro machine or a computer.
Which, by the way, I am a pro KJ and purchased the computer I use for my shows for $140.00. So, for the price, I would look for a good computer on craigslist before buying this machine, even for home use!

The DGX109 is a discontinued model I believe. May want to step up a model.
I too would recommend a good computer or laptop that you can dedicate to karaoke and/or music/media in general.

Does your Bro have all his music on DISCS or MP3+g files ???
If they are all discs -- ripping them to a hardrive can be a PITA. Well worth it in the end but for home use ..maybe not what you are looking for --MORE DETAILS on your use will give far better results

If it's for home, and you are using discs, I recommend the Performer's Choice PCX series player first, and a V2GO second. ( V2Go got second only because of loading speed)

Hi,
I have a Vocopro model, can't remember which one, pretty new one. I use it for walk-in disc's and as a back up just in case my PC goes down I have a large disc collection so the show can go on.

I agree with Topher. If you're going to be playing MP3+G files, a computer would much easier to navigate compared to a cdg hard drive player like the Acesonic DGX-109. If you use a program such as JustKaraoke, Hoster, Compuhost or even the winamp frontends, you are able to keep track of who is singing what much better than using the Acesonic where you have to keep the slips in order, not as easy as you might think it is.
