I have a yamaha Mg82cx and I have my mic connected to Channel 1.

I want to know if i can use the insert out in Channel 1 to send the vocal signal from the mixer to my computer (line in) using 1/4 to 1/8 cable.

Thanks for your help.

SM

No, not with any standard cable or PC input.

Insert sends a mono signal out on one pin, the tip, and returns it on the ring. The PC would be expecting an output signal on both.

What are you trying to get done?

I am doing karaoke recordings and I use adobe audirion as my DAW software.

I have the music in track 1 in Adobe audition. I want to get my vocal in track 2. So i need to send just the vocal signal from my mixer to the computer's line in.

Well they do make an adapter that works well that actually turns the insert jack into a direct out jack - allowing you to send the vocal to the recorder while keeping the signal intact on the mixer.
