MTV Article: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/163258 ... tory.jhtml Quote: But it isn't terribly likely that LaBelle was targeting DeGeneres specifically, as her discontent seems directed towards the offensive remarks made by judges. "The comments that were made, they could make you, like, want to kill yourself," LaBelle said.
LaBelle said that given the chance she'd take a different approach in helping to cultivate the young talent featured on the show. "If you believe in yourself, just go for it," she would advise the show's contestants. "What do you have to lose? And when people tell you, 'You can't,' you have to say, 'I can.' " Are the judges there to judge, or to merely create drama that will sell advertising? |

If they were there to judge, they wouldn't have picked a loser like Ellen the Degenerate. |

I have never been a fan of American Idol. It's a popularity contest, not a true talent competition. Few of the judges comments are actually constructive - "That was pitchy dawg." Ellen Degeneres has NO business judging a singing competition - it would be like having Paula Abdul judging a stand up competition. Simon certainly brings in ratings, and, once he leaves, I'm pretty willing to bet the show doesn't last. |
