I run my filler music off of an MP3 player with music I download from Amazon MP3.

Since switching to computer with a 24 bit sound card, the music from the MP3 just isn't up to par. I HATE the filler option in CompuHost, and would rather keep my filler music and karaoke music on different interfaces and mix it live myself, so I'm looking to buy a MP3 or HCSD digital music controller.

I've looked at the Cortex HC-1000, the Numark DDS, and the Denon HD2500.

Does anyone use one of these, or recommend another one? I'm leaning towards the Denon, as it is obviously the best, but it is $300-500 more than the other options, so it should be! Once I get to the price point of the Denon, I'm REALLY tempted to go ahead for the Pioneer SEP C1, which houses a fully-functional version of Serato Lite ON the interface. I could do some damage with that.

Anyway, who has worked with this kind of option for either karaoke or DJ?

I have multi output sound cards I use maya 44 and Gigaport.

I use Virtual DJ and Winamp for filler music.

Sound cards have 4 outputs. 1 for Karma, 1 for winamp and 2 for Virtual DJ.

I have a Denon HD-2500 it's nice I use it to control Virtual DJ and as a back up player. It was a great buy at $299 good luck finding one they are discontinued and all of them were blown out under $300 about 3 or 4 months ago.

Hmmm....it kinda amazes me that no one uses this type of interface. I think more and more of you will as time goes on, at least those of you that do use filler music. I've always run more of a DJ show with karaoke as filler, instead of a karaoke show with DJ music in the background, and it works for me in the bar I am in. I don't want to bring that topic back up, as it has been covered a thousand times.

Anyway, I ended up going with the American Audio SDJ1. Karaoke hosts that use filler, check it out:
