I was taking my cards around to florists today when I found out about an expo tomorow for weddings and prom. $50 per table for a 3 hour event. This is the first one in this town. I found out that only one other karaoke host/dj will be there. For 50 bucks, I'm going. Just wish I could have had more advance notice. Can't print anything out color,l black cartridge is screwed. Took my cartridges to cartridge world today, the black one won't work, they were finished for the day.

Skirting for my rack table has become frayed and wasn't an issue in the dark but for an exoo bought a new sheet, cut it 1" long on all 4 sides and put it aside. Can't hem it so it will have to do.

I will bring all of my set up, drove with my trailer for the first time today. Even did my first back up job in my drive way! Good thing I had my son there to coach me. I'm not going to hook up my audio but I will be hooking up the video to show music videos and my lyrics screen. I will have a 2nd laptop set up to show pics of my events since I can't print out in color.

Has anybody else been to any of these?

Haven't been but have definitely thought about it. My thoughts would be that I would want to be sure everything looked tip-top. No residual bar smoke dust on the mixer, no smoke smell on the equipment, non-dented mic heads!

I also would want flyers / leaflets extolling the virtues of karaoke at a wedding whilst being on hand to explain why it is not for everyone. Having video of people singing / dancing to a karaoke show would be good (even if not from a wedding). Of course one way to do pricing / contract would be to do a discount for those who allow photos and video / audio from their wedding to be used in future promotional material.

We all know that weddings / private parties are where the big money is. For me it's the toss up between a regular weekly income versus more sporadic income. People ask me about private parties but often times I am already on a regular commitment to a venue.

The one wedding I did meant that I had to cancel a venue on that night, it did make a dent in my crowd and there was some disappointment that took a while to recover from.

If you are near a party supply, you can get shiny colored skirting for your table - I recommend that -- black, red, white is always an eye catching combo of colors.

Printers are so cheap now - get yourself a good color printer. You can also take your info on a thumb drive to any of the printing places and get stuff printed up for cheap; if you save your info as JPGs you can also have it printed at Costco photo centers for INEXPENSIVE! Posters even.

When people go to these bridal shows, they expect everything to appear like it has in their dream of the ideal wedding. Make it look as chic as possible. The bridezillas and their future MIL's don't know that you didn't have a lot of time to prepare - they just look at your final picture. Do the best you can...sounds like you are.

BTW, that's very inexpensive for one of these shows - in our area they are upwards to $150-200 for a table.

If you are thinking about doing EXPOS ..you should SKIP this one and really get prepared. Brouchures / Videos / light demo ...It's the time to SHINE.

YOU GET ONE CHANCE TO "reel" them in ..if you don't impress ..They keep walking by
