Let me start by saying, I realize that this topic thread should be in the "Private Forum: KJs ONLY," but I posted it there 2 months ago, and only received 2 responses. There's got to be more than 2 people on this Forum who will be affected, so I'm thinking that you don't go into that Forum section as frequently as this Open Forum section. That is why I am posting this here. I am currently using the following model for my wireless system: SHURE U4D-UB. This set of SHURE Mics that I am using are (IMO) one of the best Cordless Mics I have ever had or heard (at Karaoke shows that I've been to). When you go to SHURE's website to see the list of unacceptable models, my model is listed there. It also indicates that the model CAN NOT be modified. As for a trade-in or rebate, that is not an option for me. Shure is offering a small rebate towards the purchase of a new set, but I can not prove ownership of mine. I bought these Mics from a third party over 5 years ago, and I have no receipt for it, and the serial numbers are completely illegible. So,my options are very limited.... Buy a new set of Cordless Mics or go back to using my corded set. To those of you who are using Cordless Mics that fall into this (in the future) forbidden range, what do you plan to do as the June 2010 deadline approaches? For those of you who have Cordless Mics that have been approved for use, what brand and model are you using? How do you rate them (quality and endurance)? |

I am replacing mine by April 3rd with an AKG WM40 Dual set. |

Hi Danny.... Have you gotten any feedback about that set, or are you planning on getting that set because it falls into a specific budget for you? Have you ever seen them in use anywhere else? |

If they still work, and I'm not getting any interference, I would plan on still using them. If I'm doing a gig, and some authoritative dude walks in and says......stop using that mic, it's illegal(what are the chances of that?).....I'll say, who?what?where? I sorry, I didn't know, and start crying like a baby.....  ......for either case.....I'll bring legal mic backups....

After all, this hasn't been broadcast on the news or printed in the media the way it was for the Digital conversion last year. How would most of us really know about this (unless you're going out and buying new Mics every year)? BUT, on the other side of the coin, ignorance of the law is no excuse. If that said person were to walk into your/our show, it's possible that he could confiscate that equipment. Like you, I do have backup.... I have 3 corded mics that I continue to bring with me for my setup. I currently only use one of them. |

Well if he takes the mics, no biggy, since you can't use them anyway......also, I have a new defence.........."my lawyer told me it was ok to use them"....this is the new excuse for law-makers/politicians.....and niether scumbag seems to get in trouble.....

From reading the rebate form, it appears to me that you would not have to send in the receipt for your traded-in equipment, only the receipts for the newly purchased wireless system and components. (see the list of 4 required items) However, the system and components being traded in must be in working condition and must be genuine products, not counterfeits. Thank you Danny. It's not the most stellar review I've ever read, but it's passable. I did an internet search on "AKG WM40" and didn't see this. I did see AKG WMS40. |

I am actually torn between two models one being the AKG. I am a little worried because part of the frequency range for the AKG is in the banned range. If I can get one with the range below 698 I will go with the AKG. Otherwise I am going with the other which I know is in the legal range. The difference is that the other wireless set has two extra mikes. I am not looking for the quality of sennheiser or shure because they are too good for karaoke vocals, they show imperfections a lot easier than a cheaper brand. I also don't want to hand a mike that is as expensive into the hands of a drunk. |

Replaced my old 700Mhz range mics last year already. Good to go!! Honestly, I doubt most will have issues for some time yet but I figure better to be safe than sorry. |

I got the word that the particular AKG's are in the legal range so I will be picking up one set on the 2nd. they will be replacing a samson mike that has caused me so much headaches with interferance that I quit using it and went to a wired PG58 in it's place and a sennheiser Freeport that is smack dab in the middle of the illegal range. |

A pair of Shure PG288 Dual Mic Kits (so a total of 4 Microphones), way nicer than the Vocopro UHF-5800 I had been using previously. I am actually considering the SHURE PG288/PG58 dual set. I saw it listed for $500. http://www.microphonesystems.com/1_1197 ... ystem.html |
