Any of you guys familiar with this unit? It's the "Cher" effect from her song Believe and now used popularly by T-Pain. I would like to buy one for my home karaoke set up but I don't know how to set it up. Back panel Main Line Out is 1/4" T/S phone plug and Line Input says it's not a microphone input (huh???). I thought I can plug my mic to this unit in, out to in my echo/rev/delay unit - out to In Mixer. Mixer does not have inserts. Advice?, |

Have you already bought it? There are smaller/cheaper/easier to operate units available today that do that effect. (like this one - LINK) From what I understand the original Antares unit needs key/chord info preset for every song in order to do the hard pitch correction. |

No you cannot plug a microphone directly into it. It's just like any other effects or dynamics processor, it is expecting a line level signal not a mic level signal. If your mixer does not have inserts then about the only way you could do this would be to buy an external mic pre-amp connect your mic to the pre-amp, your pre-amp to the line in on the AVP-1 and then the output of the AVP-1 to the line in of your mixer channel. There are computer based solutions that would probably be a lot easier for you to deal with than that AVP-1. That's a pretty complex and powerful unit with a big learning curve. |

Thanks Bazza. TC Helicon looks nice but looks big for rack mount. Thanks Tony. I do have an Aphex 107 mic preamp. I will definitely try that one. |
