I know, speakers should be in front of the singer. Have an tight situation here and wondering if it will be ok to point towards the singer instead.

Both speakers would be on speaker stands, about 5 ft off the ground. Can't set them on the floors b/c of tables, cannot elevate higher because of low ceiling.

One speaker would be about 30 foot from singer, the other around 35 ft.

I realize this can cause feedback issues but wondering if the distance from singer to speaker is great enough that there wouldn't be problems.

Doable or don't do?

Thanks!

If the volume is not too high, should work fine. Particularly if it is facing the speaker head on and the microphone is pointed away from it.

Most karaoke hosts do this to some degree, because sadly there are very few monitor speakers out there.

I set up like this all the time, and never had a problem.

Thanks! I don't want to mess up anything b/c the equipment isn't mine!

I too try to setup like that most of the time, as I don't use monitor speakers. I am setup directly behind the singer or just off the the side. Setting up with one or both of the mains point towards the singer allows me to hear the main mix better so I can make adjustment easier.

Yes it can cause feedback, but with good eq-ing, and watching the mix, you shouldn't have any problems.

I agree, most of the venues I've played in give limited space for karaoke.
Making the use of "stage" monitors" not ideal. Having the speakers slight to the side or behind works.

Play with them.....turn them slightly towards the singers, and see if it works for hearing themselves sing. Adjust them as the night goes on and the situation changes. Sometimes I've pointed them straight ahead, and then slightly away when feedback reared it's ugly head.... ......though pointing towards opposite corners is great for music coverage, you'd be surprised how using the walls for bouncing sound waves, in a place can be very strategic. If I can I like to put my stands as close to the room corners behind me, as possible. Don't panic at feedback....move something.....speaker, effects strength knob, sometimes an upper frequency or two......good luck

My singers are 5 foot from speakers if not less and I never had feedback.

Buy good microphones and learn about proper gain structure.

Thanks everyone. The equipment is not owned by me so I have to work with what is there. We haven't moved anything yet but once we do, I will just tweak as best I can at this point and hopefully, not have any issues.
