I have recently switched from running cd's to Hoster, It runs great, and has made hosting much easier, but occasionally the singers have trouble keeping up with the song. When running disc I had the option to slow things down, can anyone tell me is there a way to do this with hoster? Thanks for any help...Cord

Which player were you using that you could speed or slow down?
Currently Hoster does not have this feature, however they are working on it.

What do you mean not able to keep up? Are you saying that the song is playing correctly, the graphics are in sync, and they just want to slow everything down? If that is so, then Lonman is right. The 4.2 realease of Hoster will have tempo as an adjustment.
On my system, playing off of the hard drive, my graphics are not in sync with my music. The graphics are a little behind where they should be. Under Tool then Options, I think, I have to set the offset to -.5, and everthing runs like a champ off of the hard drive.

Felix, yes they are just having trouble keeping up on certain songs, everything is in sync. I will keep running as is until the update you speak of. Other than having to load all the cdg,s for hoster everything else is great, it has taken the burden of hustling disc all night and I couldn't be happier. I wish I would have went this route before!

Ah. Only problem with that system (at least the original) is it also changes the key when you speed up or slow down. Did that change on the later models?

How much video memory do you have on your laptop? This is the most common cause of the lag.
If it is just a little off, you may just have to free up a little bit of FSB memory in your laptop to get it to work correctly. Make sure you are running in "HIGH PERFORMANCE" mode in the power settings, as opposed to the default mode or energy saving mode. Also make sure that you turn as many background programs off as possible while running Hoster. The biggest memory hogs are any AntiVirus programs and ESPECIALLY the Microsoft Indexing Service. If either of those are running, and you turn them off, it will probably fix your lag problem.
I had a computer that could BARELY run CompuHost when I first got it, and the lag was like 2-3 seconds between the music and lyrics, but just turning off the MS Indexing Service put everything in sync. It is all about available memory!

He doesn't have a lag in graphics or out of sync graphics, he wants to be able to slow or speed the song over all - tempo change.

"Tweak the singer not the equipment." is my motto. It seems clear to me that the machine is doing what it's supposed to. There is no need for a work around, just fix the problem.

I am so NOT a computer person - can you explain exactly how I can see if these things are running and how to turn them off? Ctrl Alt D? Then performance/applications? I don't need anything extra running - that may actually get rid of my slight occasional "burp" that occurs some time after I load a private CDG....I just don't want to get too exuberant and do something I shouldn't do. Thanks for the info so far.

Karen, here is a little utility I use -> http://download.cnet.com/GameMode/3000- ... 07864.html
It closes all non essential applications and then will restart them when you want to.
I actually also close this program once it has finished closing all non essentials as well-knowing that shutdown and restart of the computer will restore everything as well.
