my laptop is a Mac g4 and Im using the headphone output to connect to the RCA jacks of my Mackie CFX 12 mixer. Is there another way to do that? Perhaps another way to have a better sound? I'm using the KJams Pro trial edition. Thank you

Take a look at the Lexicon Alpha interface. Great sound, pro balanced 1/4" connections.

Just connects to your laptops USB & the outputs of it the Alpha go to your mixer.

The Alpha would be a great way to go, that way you already have your 1/4" connections. It's not very expensive, but if you don't want to spend the money on a USB sound interface or don't have any available USB or whatever, I'd recommend getting a "Y" cable like this: ( http://www.amazon.com/Live-Wire-TRS-Dual-Cable/dp/B001G7HDKQ) and connecting the headphone output on your laptop to one of the stereo channels on the Mackie console. That would give you gain control, EQ and a fader which you don't get when you bring it in on the 2-TR input.

Hope that helps.

Thanks to you both lonman and Tony. I'll try both. I'm gonna start with the cheaper way first.

Here's the result: Tony's y-cable configuration worked and there was improvement in the sound cause Now I can use the EQ knobs on the strip. Lonman's recommendation cost me some but it didn't hurt because the sound was really much better using the Lex interface. Thanks to Tony and Lonman.
