I was bored...... I had nothing better to do......
I just went through my library. Out of a total count of 10,732 songs, I have 1,790 repeats (that's not counting a duplicate title done by a different artist). That comes to 17 percent of my library (I don't think I have more than another 100 repeats if I count that). Also, I list all my duplicates in my song books.
And, to show how bored I really was.....
I only have:
2 copies of "Crazy"
3 copies of "Summer Nights"
3 copies of "My Way" --- 1 by Frank Sinatra and 2 by Elvis Presley
4 copies of "PBTDBL"
5 copies of "I Will Survive"

I have 18231 songs, 12,580 unique titles.
So my ratio is 31%.
HOWEVER, I built my library primarily from 3 large purchases:
1) 100 new SC disks for $330.00 on Ebay.
2) One of my singer's private collection of over 300 disc, including CB essential 1-5, 6-8 for $400.00
3) 240 discs off Ebay from someone's private collection, including the entire DKK and Legends series for $300.00.
So I got 640 of my 980 discs for just over $1000.00. For that price, I didn't really care that much how many dups were in the sets!!!
I only list my unique titles in the my song book anyway, so who cares how many dups I have. My book has a 0% dup ratio

Not going to go through to figure out which dups I have, but I do know it's about 12K individual tracks out of 14K. About 14%.

Mine is all guesswork but I currently have 8,241 tracks and somewhere between 6 and 7 thousand unique titles.
Let`s use 6,500 as a number which would give me 21.13% give or take.
Most of the repeats are just between my chartbusters essentials and various other discs I have bought for one or two songs. Most songs I have two versions of.. However, I think my record is I have 8 copies of `Devil Went down to Georgia`and quite a few repeats of Elvis..
I have also bought collections from other karaoke hosts in bulk, which is why the percentage is a little higher than average for someone who has been in business for five years.

Prior to my current update I had unique 10,500 songs and about 16,000 song files.
For a lot of songs I have edited and corrected names to conform to standardized names and formats, but I have not always deleted the prior files. So I have about 14,000 different songs (Disk#+artist#+song#) unique,
10,500 songs artist+song unique
16,000 files (many duplicates of the same track)
I blame the problem that i have with 2,000+ tracks represented 2 times on my hard drive on cheap storage and a fear of accidentally deleting my only copy.
I suspect many of the 100,000 song sets out there have a LOT of duplications in this last catagory, probably 10s of thousands on the 200-300k song drives.
I did a check of the Music book deluxe database and it only contains 38,500 unique English songs (artist+song). It does not include some disks and does not include a lot of unique stuff from SBI karaoke. It also does not include the uniqe songs from STTW and Karaoke Version, maybe 1500 unique songs there. I estimate the SBI unique songs to be nearly 6,000. Another 500 are just the hard to find ones from odd sources. If you dumpster dive for Midi karaoke, there may be another 4k unique songs out there (nearly all pirated junk).
In music book deluxe there are 188 copies/versions of New York, New York (sinatra).
My best estimate of ALL the songs out there on karaoke in English is 50,000. Maybe another 60k if you include stuff people have done by vocal removal or privately adding .cdg tracks to commercial backing tracks, but in general none of these spread very far from the KJ that made them. I serously doubt the 300k drives out there have much over 40k unique English songs.
