I want to hookup my laptop to a karaoke machine. The idea is to have the laptop organize and select the music and feed to the karaoke machine. But, what would I need to accomplish the connection and then what would control the karaoke machine. The other idea is to rip songs from the CD/DVD to protect the disk from scratches/damage during handling.

The karaoke machine is a JBKM4000

I'm not breaking into the pro business ... just personal entertainment/partying.

That's like saying you want to play your VHS player through your DVD player. It might be physically possible to do, but why would you want to?

The CDG (karaoke) player plays DISCS. The computer plays MP3+G digitally compressed COMPUTER files. Why would you want to play digital files through your CDG player? There is not a single advantage to doing this, even if it could be done, unless you just like the interface.

You need to either:

1) BURN karaoke discs from your computer and play them on your external CDG player.

2) Just get a computer-based karaoke player (WinAmp is free) and play the MP3+G files directly from your computer to your amp and TV.

Don't mean to discourage you, you are just making this WAYYYY more complicated than it has to be. Hope that helps!!

Oh, wait. Maybe your karaoke player IS your amp? Does it have red, white, and yellow RCA INPUTS on the back? Does it have it's own screen, or do you typically hook your karaoke player up to a TV?

If it have the RCA inputs, you can hook up external sources, like your computer. Let us know which INPUTS the player has (not outputs).

The player is just that a player and nothing more. Simply replace player with computer and connect to said tv and sound system.
