Yeah I know "EWE BEHRINGER", but, need 2nd opinion.....

Looking at the Behringer 1680S....
RMS 300W @ 8ohms
peak 400W @ 8ohms

My speakers Behringer B1520Pro
RMS 300W @ 8ohms
peak 1200W @ 8ohms

Good match, or too much amp or too little amp??????????????????????

An amp pushing 600 watts per channel would be a better match.

I own a pair of those speakers, and they are spec'ed at 200 W RMS and 400 program. That amp might push them, sort of, but I haven't been able to find the spec. I know that the previous generation of the Behringer powered mixers, the PMP3000/5000 and 880, are underpowered for those speakers at 225W channel RMS. I have run that combo, and it definitely lacks.

The speakers are rated at 300w cont.

I also own and use (2) of the 1520 PRO Behringer and have been running with a Yamaha EMX512. I agree they would be better pushed with something more powerful. I have been contemplating the qsc gx5 as a purchase to better match with these.

I think you CAN get away with that powered mixer but to realize the potential of the speakers you would need something as Lonnie suggested ( at least a 500watt x 2 @8 ohms)

PS --I wouldn't EWE Behringer lol -- When I purchased my BRAND NEW B1520 they were only $250 each --- GREAT DEAL. Now I see they are upwards of the $350 range ..for that price I would lean towards the YAMAHAs if I had to buy today.

I agree with Jam here,,,on both points. I own the same speakers, love them a lot. Bought mine new for $209 each, and want to add 4 more for outdoor stuff. I would also think of using a more powerful amp/mixer. You probably would be much happier.

LOL, not "EWE"ing Behringer personally, Just got to much crap in the past for using Behringer equipment.

I Own a PMH 2000 which after about 6 years of use is starting to drop a couple channels. That was hooked to 2 B1520's.

I also have the pmp 2000 with 2 B1520pros. So I am gonna use the pmp 2000 on the B1520s and then getting a new 1680s to go with the 1520 pros. Money is tight now so my wife only budgeted me $400 for a new head.

BTW also own 4-B300s powered speakers and a Ub 1204 FX-Pro Mixer to run them.

So I am a Behringer FAN!!! :D

Thanks for the help guys!

Aha. I have the B1520, not the B1520 Pro. Apparently there is a difference, as mine is rated at 200W continuous:

Yep, you got it right, there is a difference. The B1520 pros are much much better.

NOt sure if you can --but for $400 you can get yourself a nice 500W x 2 power amp either the QSC Gx5 or the Behringer clone ( same price so I would g QSC) and run it thru the powered mixer you have. Then when you can you can get a new MIXER LOL

Mine sound pretty good. I got them for $150.00 apiece, and they rock the place when I put 400W through each (both sides of an EP2500). I use my Yamaha clubs nowadays -- I actually plan on selling a "PA package" on Craigslist soon. PMH3000, that pair of speakers, a pair of XM8500 mics, cables for all, and two speaker stands. $500.00 takes it, which is not a bad deal, I think.

Actually yes you could do that. Use the PMP2000 and just get a better amp, the QSC GX5 would be a very good amp for that. You should a noticeable jump in sound quality.
On the mixer pre-amp outs, run those to the exsternal amp & you are set.
