So as to not continue hijacking the Flyer thread, mckyj57 wrote:

I had never heard this before so I went looking and found:

At http://www.ascap.com/licensing/licensingfaq.html #15 is where they talk about the square footage and number of TV's.

To me it reads for radio and television transmission. I don't see how this would be related to karaoke but please tell me what I am missing here.

It only relates to context the exemption was mentioned... it was in reply to posts stating that even TV requires licensing, nobody implied that the exemption applied to karaoke or live music.

Gotcha. I didn't see it that way but now that I re-read it, that makes sense.
