I use my 6 yr old HP Laptop Windows XP for my Sax&Dottie. It has been working flawlessly until the laptop accidentally went for a dive to the concrete floor. I already know Vista sucks. I would like to get the new Windows 7 but I wonder if it will work. Any issues you encountered in loading? Do I need to download a new version of S&D? Thanks for your help. |

"In Theory", win 7 has an XP virtual run window/box... So if it won't run in Win 7, you can run it in Win 7/XP.. |

I have Vista on my computer I use for Karaoke and I have Sax & Dottie. It works just fine. I have had no problems at all with it. I did get a new version of Sax & Dottie when I set it up (about one year ago) and I update windows ever so often, but absolutely no problems |

My problem with Vista 320 GB/2G ram, used mainly for karaoke, no internet usage, no big files. Just Microsoft Office.-----It takes too long to start. Even longer to reboot. Every time the power circuit breaker at the club tripped, when the power is back on, the Vista goes to checking the drive for errors and I cannot cancel. Have to wait a good 10 minutes to become operational. There's 2 to 3 second delay to start a song as opposed to XP wherein it's instant like in a blink of an eye. Sorry, don't mean to trash Vista. Just my experience with it. |

Thanks Jdmeister. If I don't get any more post advice (pros/cons), I will get the Win7 and try your advice. |

I think you will like Win 7, I know I do. If you have any problems running Sax N Dotty with Win 7 then turning off UAC will take care of it (from Sax N Dotty support and also personal experiance) |

definitely works. Make sure to turn off UAC. Windows 7 takes some getting used to though. Cheers Vic in Sydney |

Pardon my ignorance as I haven't purchased Win7 yet - but what is, or where can I find the UAC so I can turn it off when the time comes. Thanks! |

Hi Brian 1. Click the WINDOWS button 2. Type "USER ACCOUNT CONTROL" in the 'search programs and files' box 3. Click "CHANGE USER ACCOUNT SETTINGS" 4. Drag the slider down to "NEVER NOTIFY". 5. Click OK That should do it. I just moved to a new laptop myself, and it worked just fine. Cheers Victor |
