It almost makes me want to announce a disclaimer at the beginning of my shows.

Something like:
"Just because I say you did a song well, do not go on TV and make a fool of yourself. It's my job to tell you that you did a wonderful job, so that you will have more fun, and sing more songs. That does not make you worthy of being the next superstar in the world of entertainment. Remember, making you enjoy singing is what I get paid to do. I do not get paid to judge your performance and give you an honest appraisal. Please do not think of me when you say that people tell you that you are a good singer. Also, please do not consider the opinions of anyone who regularly attends your family reunions, or anyone of the opposite gender who has not had 'relations' in more than 30 days, or 30 seconds in the case of a male."

The show was actually pretty hilarious at times, because as a host you constantly run into people who think they are "all that", but can't carry a tune in a bucket.

*sigh* I probably dozed through my 15 minutes. =) Don't worry, I'm not offended. I wasn't picking on the people on the show, per se, or even their singing. I just thought it was pretty funny that they were saying things like, "Well, my friends and family tell me I'm a really good singer!" Wow, no kidding! Then I must have been the most handsome kid in the world, because my mom told me so.

Kudos to the people who had the guts to audition for what they thought was a legitimate contest, and I do think the concept of the show is pretty cruel. I suppose you can count me as one of those people who enjoy watching train wrecks. =)

As for the "all that" people, they still bug me. Britney Spears could sing at my show, and I'd be annoyed if she had that attitude (but I'd probably still offer to buy her breakfast after the bar closed).

I wish we as host could nominate people for the show. I know I have a few that would fit the bill to a T!!!
