This Laptop will definitely work out great for both applications.

I'm not that familiar with Sax & Dotty, but I think it won't run out of the box on Windows 7. You might have to tweak it in order for it to run. But I'M NOT sure about this. Others who use it can probably help you better with this.

I have an off topic question for you re sourcing that ACER in Aus. I'd appreciate it if you can check your PM box for a message I will send.

Thanks!

Sax N Dotty should run fine on Win 7, you may or may not have to go into your Win 7 user account control settings and change it to "never notify" (turn UAC off)
I have had to do that for older versions of KJ Filemanager and Songlist Generator and I know that you had to turn UAC off in Vista for Sax N Dotty to work properly.
Since moving to Win 7 I have also moved from Sax N Dotty to Karma so I can't tell you specifically that it (UAC) has to be turned off...just try it before turning UAC off and if you have any issues then go in and turn UAC off.

I couldn't wait guys.

I went in and decided to make the purchase yesterday. Spent 3 hours setting it up and it works like a charm. Don't think I could get better value elsewhere.

I am still getting used to the full sized keyboard and the whole Windows 7 interface, but I love it. Using it at a gig tonight!

RLC- You are correct, I did have to turn UAC off. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Karma. I think I am ready to upgrade hosters now that my puter has more grunt.

RonG- I have responded to your message.

Sevarin- Thanks for the advice. I am gigging the new laptop tonight.

Cheers

I looked at both Karma and Compuhost for a long time, played around with both, tried to learn all about both programs.

I will say this: They are both great programs.

Karma happened to fill almost all of my wants/needs in a karaoke hosting program so that is what I went with.
I also use 4 other products from Latshaw Systems and have been very happy with them as well

For video mixing in Virtual DJ I would suggest something with more power.

Faster Processor, 6 -8 gig of ram, and Dedicated 512mb Video card is what I would look at getting.

Or if you are working on a lower budget.

except for the ram the one he got meets the criteria. He might be able to add memory to it.

Went great, but that's because I used an antique until I upgraded last week.

I have about 2 gig of RAM from the old laptop, that I could transfer into this one if need be.

At this stage 4 GB seems to do the trick for me.

YAYYYYY!!!

Unfortunately that might not be possible as types of ram are changing as fast as computers are.
