A local venue contacted me about doing karaoke on Saturday nights. I went and hooked up all my equipment tonight to make sure everything sounded and looked right. It did. So, here we go!! I'm super excited about this and I can't wait to see how I do. Hopefully, nothing major goes wrong, . Tim Haney Kinetic Entertainment |

well, the first show went great! had a couple hiccups at the beginning of the night, but i quickly worked them out and realized what i need to do different next time. I went ahead and ordered some new discs with the money i made and am looking forward to the next show!! Tim Kinetic Entertainment |

Great Tim. Glad to hear it went well. However, now that we know that C/B and S/C are not for public performance, and you can have a backup but you can't use it, how will this impact your future as a KJ? And that you'll have to try and figure out a way to procure EVERY song that was ever licensed just in case someone brings in a burned disc and you can't play it? Just kidding...but the discussions on this board lately make it an exercise in futility to try and operate a karaoke biz. Glad it went well - we all have done a first show...it's a continual learning experience. |

Congrats and good luck. I received a call this morning for my first bar gig of the year. It's Friday. Then Saturday I have a "welcome home from iraq" karaoke outdoor party. Then Sunday I have a 3 senior grad party. Hopefully this bar gig turns into a weekly. I did a fill in gig for them last year and I guess they liked me and I got a number of private parties from that bar's patrons. |

I did my first paying gig at big house pool party Sat night. Did it more as a favor for a friend that had been over at one of our parties, offered $400 but I only accepted $350... shoulda taken it all cuz the cops never showed and crowd didnt leave until the home owners started passing out all the jackets and purses after 2:30am. Dancing part was ok, they were a very mixed group. And the only area my music collection showed weakness was in spanish "banda", shoulda known that made up most of the crowd. But client understood that my son is the DJ and that I just throw karaoke parties at my home. Music started at 7:00 they danced till 12:30 and sung till 2:30, no real rotation cuz the boss was a mic hog. A couple strangers asked for my card and I told them that I was only doing it as a favor, they asked for my number anyways. Purchased some LED lights at sixstar dj in downtown LA with the gig money. |

Sounds like a good night...who knows....maybe this will be the start of a nice part-time money maker. birdofsong |
