Yes my 15 year old son will be doing 3 months work experience there next year.
Now after he has been with me 3 times, he can run the karaoke show.
He wont talk over the mic. yet but he does sing. Really well.
Thing is...
How do I prepare him for it.
I would really really like your input on this one guys.
And for those of you wondering...
Yes I'm as green as Creddie Hulk.

Creddie Hulk = Incredible Hulk.
He will be working in the studio & live sound.
Thing is I have similar gear to you guys.
The Opera House is a differant ball game.
They use gear I have never even heard of.

Most digital consoles have offline editors that he can download and familiarize himself with. It's not like working on the actual surface, of course; but it lets you know what they can do and how to access various functions.
Who knows what else they have. Realistically, he will probably spend very little time driving consoles, and a lot of time doing stage-hand type work. Theatre companies pretty much all have audio guys that travel with them.

The best thing about the Sydney Opera House is they use a Meyer sound system. We're lucky at one of our venues to use 2 Meyer C-1s and 2 700HP (over $100,000 worth of speakers).
