True Story.

I was in Las Vegas for a trade show a few months back. One of my buddies comes up and shows us all a $700 voucher that he won the night before playing slots. Wow! $700 bucks! Then he told us the rest of the story. He was playing the Wheel Of Fortune slot betting ONE quarter at a time...and hit the jackpot. If he had been betting the max (5 coins) he would have won the progressive which at the time was over 12 MILLION.

So he was like.... "Yay. I won $700. <sigh>".

Moral? ALWAYS bet the max on slots. If the max is too much...step down to a lower denomination machine.

He should be looking at the brighter side. He was STILL $700 richer. There's always someone who will complain about the prize when they win. Kinda like karaoke contests...

I played max ($20) on wheel of fortunate, first roll I win $400, go to the cage, get my money and hit the perfume store...true story....

In the last 2 years I have stopped recommending the show at Ellis Island. It is still pretty good and use to be the best IMHO. I don't see it that way any longer. But it is disc based and better than many others. While their library is getting somewhat outdated, they will play your discs! And it goes on 7 days a week until 4am.

The food there is great and inexpensively priced. There are three eateries. The "regular" restaurant offers breakfast fare, sandwiches, and dinners including excellent steaks. There is the barbeque that has amazing food and a micro-brewery. Lastly Metropolitan pizza has a location there and it has the best pizza in town along with strombolli and the like. And as suggested expect to wait on a significant line at the barbeque or "regular" restaurant!

And the gambling provides about the best odds around with low minimum bets

The best show? Depending on who is hosting that night, you might like the show at Bills Gambling hall. The show at Bill's is managed/run by the fellow at Imperial Palace who also runs/mangages the karaoke show at Harrahs. I have never been to a show at Harrah's but I am not impressed with the one at Imperial Palace. All three venues are on the same block, so if you don't like one, run over and try another. You'll have to check. of course, which days karaoke is offered at each place.

The best show IMHO, is way off the strip. It has received many awards and recognition, as has the show at Ellis Island. It is run by Lesley and is at:

Kelley's Pub
Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays 8pm
702-458-3646
3430 E Tropicana Ave @pecos

I have never been to the show at the Trop but I will check it out next time!

Five quarters would be a buck twentyfive, now-a-days on some penny slots the max coins could be like 7 bucks. Like 40-50 lines and you can play upwards of 10cents per line, it really is cheaper to just play dollar slots with three lines.
