Hi everyone, I was wondering are these helpful for karaoke or is this overkill? Also will this keep me from having to rest my hand on the volume knob on the singers that get really loud without warning? What about super quiet singers? do they also level those out? I can mix pretty well but all the controls look pretty intimidating on the models I have looked at. Can someone who has no experience with compressors operate or will I do more damage than good? Thanks in advance for any help......Cord

Are they useful? Absolutely. In fact in my opinion compression is essential.
It's not going to make a low talker or "whisperer" sound normal, but it sure helps temper the overall mic sound and saves everyone in the room from that surprise screamer.

Thanks for the input guys. I may need to call on you again for help on a start point on settings. I have two venues where two particular singers tend to get overly loud and heaven forbid when they sing together and try to out do each other! looks like this may help Thanks again....Cord

I feel personally they are MORE needed in karaoke since every singer is different. I will not run a show without them on the mics. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
