O'kay, just a quick question here, as in my Newbie post I said we're purchasing equipment, late last night I received an e-mail from a member here pointing me towards thedigitaldj.co.cc, it looks like a Great deal, but from what I was told here, it would not be legal to use................ was wondering if any of you have heard of them and what you think. 200,000+ digital songs pre-loaded on an external harddrive............. from what everyone here has told me, ASCAP, BMI,and others would consider this system illegal. Just interested in everyone elses thoughts on it. Thanks. P, L, and Ss. S. |

That right there will tell you that it's illegal UNLESS you get ALL the original discs with it. NO discs = PIRATE! |

Unless they are providing the original disc with the songs then it is highly likely thatthe system is illegal. I would stay away from it. |

Well not really, they legally cannot sell it. Chances are they haven't been caught up to yet. Possibly because they are in the UK, the US manus cannot file suit against them - not sure. Still doesn't make it legal to sell. |

On the upside, the hard drive they're implying you get is very good quality one. I have 3 of them and they take a lot of abuse... the Timex of HDs! |

I dunno, couldn't you claim ignorance, when the karaoke manus come knocking on your door? Being that you bought the music and you that it was legal? |

Yes and hey, Tech support too. Think you got a little confused about legal selling and buying though. Here in the UK years back, some side of CB became illegal to use. It was legal to sell it and legal to buy it. Illegal to use it. But... There was no theft involved. |

You received an E-mail from a member here? You mean on this board? I think we might all want to know who this is as they are trying to get you to become a PIRATE and get you in a lot of trouble. Sounds like this person might be a PIRATE too. |

Sorry so long in replying on this, I have received several e-mails from members of different sites and was mistaken about the site the mail originated from............. since that time I've discovered QUITE a bit about Piracy and the Harm it's doing to this industry, and trust me, all pertinent information was passed on to the ASCAP rep I spoke with a couple of days ago, no need for anything further on this topic I guess unless to say I hope they 'fok the fok'n foks' involved. Peace, Love and Sunshine, Stoner. |
