Hi Everyone, I'm in the market for a good audio card for my PC (PCI or PCI-E) that will allow me to use it for Karaoke. I need two mic inputs (1/4") and would like a remote. Creative has some interesting units with consoles that fit in drive bays, but I figured people here would have some good suggestions. I'd like to keep the cost under $150 if possible. Thanks for your help! |

Do you not use a separate mixer? You aren't going to find a decent sound card with mic inputs cheap. Does it absolutely have to be a PCI card, you might do better with a good USB card. http://www.zzounds.com/item--TASUS144MKII Possible alternative, I actually use a Lexicon Alpha & it sounds as good as my $200 M-Audio PCI card in my desktop. Oops, I just noticed you stated you wanted 1/4" inputs. The link I gave was for XLR. |

Sorry, perhaps I should have been more specific. I'm using this at home for karaoke parties w/ my friends (big deal around here). I'm not a professional. We had purchased a karaoke machine (DVD player w/ mic inputs and ability to read karaoke discs), but it's broken, and we have the mics and music still here. My computer's in my living room hooked into my big screen with a surround system. So if I could just plug my mics into my computer, it'd be pretty simple. A mixing board is a little more sophisticated than I really need and would take up alot more room. Thanks again! |

You might want to look into a Behringer MInimix karaoke mixer. I have one for my home and it allows for two mikes to be plugged in at the same time. |

Sound card of your description do exist : http://www.emu.com/products/welcome.asp?category=505 But it would be cheaper for you to go the mixer way, perhaps a small mixer with a USB port. |

Not only is a small mixer going to give you a greater flexiblity, but MUCH better sound quality than what a basic sound card is going to offer. I'd even go one step further if you are running home parties, get a small dedicated karaoke PA system, even this would be a night & day difference in the sound over a home stereo setup! |
