I got to finally run a show using my new AKG mikes and am quite pleased with the results. I got compliments on my sound. I can't say it was the mikes alone as it was also my first karaoke show with my new speakers as well. Let's just say I would rather sing on these mikes than my Sennheiser mike that the AKG's replaced. Have to thank all that helped me make the decision to purchase the AKG's. |

I have to agree with you on this. When I tried the AKG for the first time, everyone was commenting how great it sounds. Matter of fact, several people went to told other KJs about how great the mic sounds, I had one of the KJs show up for one of the shows and asked me to try them out. He has Shure wireless that costs about twice as much. I love the AKGs. I only wish that they were variable frequencies so I can have 4 mics at once. I may have to go to their higher end mics for that. |

Good stuff Danny! I have been contemplating them too for awhile so your feedback is appreciated. They have them locally for $349 for the AKG set. Reasonable? Eben that's right. I remember now you were trying them out. Do they really get 30 hours off a single AA or is it realistically a lot less? I'm still using my old Audio-Technicas at one of my shows. They eat 9-volts like crazy! |

Hey Danny, glad the new gear is working out so well for you, that's always awesome when the new stuff lives up to the excitment of getting a new toy I've just read a couple reviews on some of the newer AKG models, sounds like the Harman boys are up to some good things. |

No. I have put the receiver in one of those compression holders, but no. |

Eben that's right. I remember now you were trying them out. Do they really get 30 hours off a single AA or is it realistically a lot less? We get 6-8 shows from a single alkaline AA. |

$248 looks like an amazing price if these mics are as good as everyone is saying. If they are as good as the SM58 or Beta58 wireless then that is a huge savings and I might have to get a set. I've read lots of positive comments about AKG mics over the last couple of years and no negative comments at all. 9 volt batteries are a pain in the butt and I have had quality issues with the rechargeable NiMH 9 volts. I haven't had ANY quality problems with AA rechargeable batteries and a wireless mic that can go several shows on a single AA battery is very attractive from a convenience standpoint. I wish I could try one out before I buy a set . . . |

I will know more as I do more gigs but the 30 hours seems pretty reasonable for a single battery. |

The AKGs are rackmountable. I had to buy the rack kit, which I think is a bit over priced, but they allow you to mount to the left half of the rack. It also comes with shorter right side so if you get two receivers, you can rack them side by side and still fit within 1U. However, it's a bit ironic since these are fixed frequency mics so chances of mounting two side by side is near zero. However, I believe this rack will fit their higher end variable frequency unit so I am waiting to get those and fit both in one rack kit. |

They do several shows, but they won't work with rechargables. Only alkaline. But since you can get 30 RayOVac AA for $11.00 some places, that means you get 6 shows for 40 cents. Can't beat that. |

I did a side by side testing with my friend's SM58 wireless against my AKG and mine were equal or better in two different setups: mine and his. I don't know if you have done the comparison yourself but to me these sound better than SM58 wireless, even better than some of the wired mics, including SM58s. |

I also own the AKG Dual set. I totally agree that for the money they cannot be beat for sound quality and battery life. The only improvement That I would make to them is to change the battery compartment install.I already snapped off the plastic clip from the cover being in to much of a hurry to change the battery. |

I don't know if you have done the comparison yourself but to me these sound better than SM58 wireless, even better than some of the wired mics, including SM58s. I am going to have to differ. I own all of these microphones, and use them constantly. I have two SM58 wireless and two AKG WMS40 in one install, and one of each in another along with SM58 wired. You can't eq the mics the same, though. The AKG is "hotter" than the SM58 at close range, but the sensitivity drops off fast. And the WMS40 doesn't handle low voices well at all. They are all way ahead of the cheapo microphones, though. I avoid shows with the cheapies, simply because I know what I am missing. Among the Vocopro mics, the only one I consider decent is the 5800 series. I have found that when they are EQed properly, they are fairly reasonable-sounding. Of course they aren't a total cheapie either -- I think you pay $300+ for the set of four. But they chew batteries and they are not that durable. |
