I am curious what method you are using to connect both your digital laptop signal and analog player video signal to your singers monitor.

Currently, I run digital from the laptop via S-video out, convert to RCA and run to A/B switch. I run my analog player via RCA to the AB switch, then run RCA from the AB switch to the TV using RCA aux input on the TV, which is an old CRT TV.

Recently I have learned laptops no longer come with S-video...they are sticking with the old VGA outputs, and the higher end lappys come with HDMI. If you are using a monitor for your singers display, you can run VGA to VGA with no problem, but then how would you interface your analog player? Same deal with HDMI.

A solution someone suggested was to upgrade to Flat Screen TVs and run two wires...a direct digital connection from the laptop to an HDMI input, then use an aux input for the analog player...

My solution was to keep things the way I have them, and get a converter to convert the VGA output to S-video, and continue as I have.

Curious if any of you have crossed this bridge yet and come up with something I have not thought of yet. My goal is to be able to interface with old and new technology.

I have a 4 switchbox which is also an RF Converter. So I plug the S-Video from the computer into the switcher, the players RCA video into it, it converts it to COAX & I split from there to run to all outside tv's including singer screen.
There are VGA to RCA (or even S-Video) adapaters you can get.

Cool...Lon, keep in mind, the adapters wont work for VGA to RCA or SVideo, you have to buy a converter. You can get adapters for 1-3 dollars, but converters are 30-70 dollars. I got a $30 converter to use my VGA output. It is a shame they are no longer putting S-video on lappys.

I recently stated using this converter which allows me to go from my laptop to a flat screen monitor using a VGA cable and at the same time to a regular TV using an RCA cable.

works great and cost about $30

My laptop has HDMI out and VGA. I currently run VGA out to a video converter which turns it into RCA which I feed into a 4 channel AB box.

I guess from what I read of Compuhost's documentation that it is possible with a WDM compatible video card to import your video from the external source into Compuhost.

Now would an old Dazzle video card accomplish such a thing? Hmm, don't know but I'm curious... Any computer savvy people have an idea on that one?
