I had a few questions that I hope someone on here can help me out with. I'm new to the whole karaoke thing and would greatly appreciate some good advice. We have a small bar setup here in our neighborhood and they want us to start doing some karaoke. After doing lots of reading online I have come to the conclusion that my least expensive way to do this would be on my computer. We have the place wired with multiple speakers that are hooked up to receiver, tv, and computer. I would like some help with finding a decent quality program to do the karaoke on the computer. My other questions are 1. Is it better to download karaoke songs or buy them on discs? 2. Where is the best place to get them for a affordable price? 3. What is a good quality wireless mic for a affordable price? 4. Best place to purchase the mic? I don't plan on investing a small fortune in this. I would just like to have a nice small setup to have a good time with karaoke. Thanks for any advice or suggestions you may have.

and there might be others but a good start for quality softwares.
2:Check out the sale on www.soundchoicestore.com on the MP3+G GEM series which is aimed at both the professional KJ and the Venues. They have great financing terms and the amout of unduplicated songs is amazing. Big plus is it''s already in the format that is computer friendly. Otherwise your best source for music is discs.

Also with a crowd of 25, you might be able to get away with just a basic winamp kj plugin. NOt too much of an investment there... so it's cheap and it works.

For discs to rip to your PC. They have great deals, no shipping charge, you will actually OWN the product, and discs are an excellent way to build a library, since you don't yet know what songs will be popular with any particular venue.

There's a loaded question if ever there was one. It depends on your budget, and what sound quality you will be satisfied with. You can buy Nady SP5s for as little as $5 each and might be happy, though on a budget, a better bet might be Behringer XM8500s. The industry standard Shure SM58 is around $99. They're all wired, so figure some cash for the cables too, and stands.

However, though you now have mics and a music source, you still need to have a mixer to mix them both together. You'll be wanting one with built in effects (voices will sound flat without). Investigate small Mackie or Behringer mixers, making sure they have effects.
