Hi Guys

Does anyone knows if EV TX1152 is good for Karaoke?

What's the difference between the Three?

which one is better for Singing Karaoke?

I use a QSC 2450.

Well for starters the ZX4 has a little more power handling capability than the SX250. The ZX4 uses a composite (i.e. Plastic) cabinet while the SX250 uses plywood. This results in the SX250 being slightly heavier but also results in a little less cabinet flex and sound bleed meaning slightly less distortion and ever so slightly better bass response. The ZX4 has a very minimal advantage in terms of sensitivity, which in theory would mean more volume for every watt of signal from the amp. In this case the difference is pretty minimual. Frequency response of the ZX4 extends a little lower than the SX250 so you'd be able to drive a little deep bass out of it. Not important if you're using a sub-woofer. The SX250 provides a wider vertical coverage pattern but is narrower horizontally than the ZX4, again for your application not important.

Now for the question you keep asking but not hearing the answer to, either of these speakers would be killer for use with a karaoke rig. EV makes some fine speakers. Honestly man, the JBL's you have now would work just fine however I suspect some issues in EQ both at the channel strip and for overall house EQ are leading to what you've described as "not good for vocals". Again I'm back to stop focusing so much on the subtle differences between full-range cabinets and look at the bigger picture. Get yourself a subwoofer, get a 31-band stereo EQ so you can peroperly EQ the PA, and spend a lot of time playing with it and just listening to the PA and what differences it makes when you make drastic (far more severe than would realistically be necessary) changes to the EQ so you can develop an ear for where the problem areas exist and therefore understand how to correct them.

Tony has provided some clear technical information as usual but I must admit that I personally prefer the ZX series over the old SX  Most people will be using a sub so what you really want is a clear and open mid to highs and no doubt that the ZX series will be giving you that

LOL....those two speakers use the EXACT same HF Compression driver. They both use the EV DH3/D2010A compression driver. So I'd say the high frequencies on the two speakers are EXACTLY the same

So, that leaves the lows and mids.

The LF driver on the SX250 takes 700 RMS watts @ 8 ohms with a sensetivity of 96 dB and frequency range down to 45 hz.

The LF driver on the ZX4 takes 800 RMS watts @ 8 ohms with a sensetivity of 98 dB and a frequency range down to 42 hz.

So, apples to oranges, they are VERY similar speakers. Feed them both 700 watts, and the specs are going to be almost identical.

The ZX4 is plastic, and weighs 44.5 pounds. The SX250 is made of plywood and weighs 50 lbs.

SO, the SX250 is going to have slightly warmer bass response due to it's plywood cab, the ZX4 weighs 5 lbs. less. Those are going to be the major differences.

Take your pick. You can't really go wrong here.

However, as I stated in another post, if you are going with the 500 watt/ch amp, look into the SX300 or a ZX3 + a powered sub. Better match to your amp.

Won't the ZX3 be too much for my Amps? The ZX3 is 600 Watts.

You are pretty safe as long as the amp is higher than the CONTINUOUS rating of the speaker, and within about 5% of the RMS rating of the speaker, AS ALWAYS as long as you don't drastically boost frequencies, especially low frequencies.

Running 600 watt RMS speakers with a 500 watt RMS amp isn't going to hurt anything, you're just going to be bugged by the fact that the speakers would be more efficient (i.e., sound better) if fully-driven by a 600 watt amp :)

I still have to go back to the question - since you've stated in a couple of the numerous threads you've started on this subject that the speakers you have actually sound pretty good for music but singing through them doesn't sound good, I am wondering if the problem does not lie so much in the speaker, but in your mics and mic settings.
If you have a bad sounding mic, or mic that doesn't suit your voice, or an improperly eq'd/gain'd/or wrong settings, no speaker is going to make that sound any better. Every one of the speakers that have been mentioned to you are all fine for singing on - even the cheaper ones.

I'd tried everything on the JRX125. They sound really boxy and not as clear and clean as the s115v. I tried the S115V and the sound was much better. I can get the S115V for $310 each and i can get the EV TX1152 for $575 brand new. If the TX1152 is that much better than the S115V, I might as well pick up a pair of TX1152.

I fully agree with your assessment between the jBL & Yamaha. I just don't think you are going to be gaining THAT much more noticeable sound between the Yamaha & EV, it might be a slight improvement but given the rest of your system (again nothing bad there), you probably are not going to notice that much of an improvement. But you have maybe 10-15 recommendations between the several threads you have going on this matter. As you can see, everyone has their own opinions on what THEY think sounds good. It's ultimately going to rely on your own ears as no one is going to agree on what is best, it's going to be what is best for your system & room it's going in and bottom line - your ears. I know some kj's that think the JBL JRX series is one of the better speakers out there - so keep that in mind when you asking for other people ears.

What's the difference between the S115V and the EV TX1152? Why does the EV costs 2x as much?

I would say that in the low end, you are not going to notice much difference.

In the high end, I think the DH3 HF compression driver is better than the Yamaha Counterpart. This is the same HF driver used in the EV ZX series and SX series speakers.

I have owned both the Yamaha S115V and EV SX300, which used the same DH3 HF driver, and the EV SX300 has much more intelligibility in the upper end.

I'm not sure if that is worth an extra $190 a speaker to you, but that's what you're gonna get for that $$$.

You won't be disappointed with the Yamaha S115Vs, though. I used those cabs in my club PA for 4 years, twice a week, and they were still in perfect sonic shape when I sold them. I actually stopped by the small latin club I sold them to a few years ago, and they are still using them to this day. They are really good speakers, and a great value at $310.00. I also would not hestitate to buy a set used due to their reliability.
