I have a Behringer eurorack 1204fx mixer thats served me well for 7 yrs. Lately I've noticed that when I mute the mics, they don't mute. Do I have a switch turned on or off that can be causing this? Any advice would be appreciated. Can not really afford to buy a new mixer at this time. Thanks.

Could it be the 'Mode' 'Normal(solo)/Level set(PFL)' button to the bottom right of the level meter.

Important thing to note on your board is that the "Mute" buttons, really aren't mutes at all. Instead, all that button does is change the routing of that channel from the Main Mix Bus to the Alt 3/4 Bus. So if you have your Alt 3/4 bus sending signal to the main mix (i.e. the Alt 3/4 faders are pushed up), then when you hit the mute button it will do no good because it will just be changing how that channel gets to the main mix.

Did you recently start using your Alt 3/4 group where previously you had not? That's about the only explanation I can see for what you're describing. For the record, I will say that this design (which both Mackie and Behringer have made spotted use of) is amazingly stupid. If they want to add subgroups, they should add sub groups, but not having a true mute on each channel is complete crap in my book.
