Hi All I am getting REALLY busy lately with my music and am looking to potentially increase the quality off my show by using a software or a plugin or whatever that will give me a good quality transpose option. I currently use 1. Winamp with pitchshifter plugin 2. Virtual DJ Pro with a pitchwheel In my opinion neither of these programs offer a good enough quality output when I have transposed between 1 - 4 semitones. Sound geets a little muddy, bass starts to sound weird, etc. What is everyone else using for pitch changes? What has given you the best results? I only need to change between 1 - 4 semitones. I am wiilling to invest in new software if it will help resolve these issues. Thank you for your advice. Vic in Sydney. |

Compuhost has a good keychanger as does Karma. I believe Hoster's is good too. |

I really like winamps key changer. If you drop the key and then speed up the tempo and the speed controls to compensate, it sounds really good.....to me anyway. |

If you need the track to be permanently transposed, use one of those better multitracks recording software. Most of those program can do a better job. .Wav file will give a better result compare to mp3. |

I agree and the best to do so is EAX Console from Creative but you need to have a Sound Blaster Audigy card  I probably tested everything out there and none are doing the job right

Bare in mind that with ANY digital keychanger, the bitrate quality of the audio file in question plays a BIG part in how well the song will sound after a significant keychange. A keychanged file encoded with a bitrate of 320 will sound INCREDIBLE when compared to a file encoded to a bitrate of 120. So, when doing your comparison, be sure to compare apples for apples. tbreen |

Yep, you're right, as long as the file was ripped directly from the CD to the WAV file. If, in the past it was just converted to WAV from an encoded file like an MP3, your quality will only be as good as the encoded file it was converted from, thus if the file was ever converted from an MP3/120 bitrate, you'll be stuck with the same low quality regardless. I'm saying this only for the benefit of others that may read this, don't want them to get the idea that simply because it's presently a WAV file that it's near CD quality, only if it was ripped from CD to WAV. tbreen |

great info. I use a Creative Live Soundcard all the time, and I have used the EAX console before, just never thought of it for whatever reason. I will give this a shot. Thanks all for your feedback. |
