I need help adjusting the DBX 166xl. What's the basic setting for this compressor? Can someone please tell me the setting for each button and analog? Thanks guys.

I would start with a basic setting of
Starting from left to right.
Expander/Gate - Threshold & Ratio off (fully counter clockwise)
Contour Button - try both ways, may sound better to your ears in or out.
Next Threshold (for the compressor) maybe -10
Overeasy Button between Threshold & Ratio pushed in
Ratio - 2:1 - 4:1
Attack & Release fully counterclockwise
Auto Button between Attack & Release pushed in
Output Gain shouldn't need to be much higher than 0 but some setups have needed to go as high as +10
Peakstop limiter may not need to be used, but it can be effective. Maybe +5
Don't need stereo coupling if you are running it on mics.
