Yeah ok. 80% of those are people who have never had the kahonas to get up there and sing and figure they never will! So they run it down. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Gee this article is over a year and a half old (post date Jan 8, 2009).

And what does the British Government know anyway. Pretty bad when you have to spend a country's money to find out what is the greatest and worst invention.

Heh I guess it kinda sounds like our govenment.

Guys...
I am from the UK and I don't believe it happened.
At least if it did they carefully chose the people to ask.

Then again if the editor does not use artistic licence he is not going to sell papers.

It is too much to think or believe.

I found this quote fromt the article kind of funny
Quote:
"There have always been two sides to it: the people who sing brilliantly and attract people into venues, and the people who get up in a group when they're drunk and drive everyone mad. People watch programmes like the X Factor for the same reasons, because you've got the idiots and you've got the geniuses; that's what karaoke is all about."

I think she should join this forum and participate.

In my opinion karaoke is safe from the list, because in my area the Cell Phone has taken over and is much worse than game consoles or karaoke ever could be. Yes there are some serious gamers out there and I was one of them, same for karaoke, but this new use of the Cell Phone is more annoying than anything I personally can think of.

My wife and I use our Cell Phones for emergency use, and to make sure each other made it to our destinations safely. We use our Cell Phones to check on our kids from time to time as we have no land line as we use only Cell Phones...But to a limited degree compared to people who TXT every day all day long.......... :looney:

No offense to anyone.....But I had to raise heck to some of our own family about that nonsense Annoying us to death txting every 5 or 10 or 20 or 30 mins about something that could wait and be said in a phone conversation once or twice per week.... LOL

Being toooooo social with a cell phone can drive some people into a state of wanting to not be social at all!!!

example....Daughter calls and says: I'm on my way home, then a few mins later calls and says: I am at exit blah blah blah, Then a few mins later calls and says: I am turning onto my street, and then a few mins later calls to say: I am unlocking my door and going in, Then later calls and says: I am going to bed now...I'll call you in the morning to let you know when I get up....... :banghead:

I love my kids so dont get me wrong....But "They" did not learn this crap from there parents!!!! Maybe they learned it in school...Some class on how to be most annoying to your parents....txt on cell phones to EVEYONE all day long about every little detail of every little thing that happens every day all day long.... LOL

Cheers everyone... :beermates:

Of course the worst is when you here somebody's cell phone ring from a stall in the bathroom. And then they answer it. :?: :!:

Actually, I thought that was the worst until I heard somebody make a call from there. :!: :!: :?: :?:

In the Byrds song, Turn Turn Turn, is says that there is a time and purpose for everything under Heaven. However, I am pretty confidant that this does not extend to answering the cell phone in the loo.

Who cares as long as lots of other people share our bad taste and keep coming out to sing and have fun. Besides, Ive watched the AFI's top 100 movies and I'm reading the Modern Library's top 100 books in the English language. I have to do something to keep my head from coming to a point.

Probably quite correct - I've been to shows that made me want to tear my ears off my head; however, I am blessed with the best singers and nobody ever runs away.

And the Byrds stole it from the bible:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboreth?

I would have put the 24-hour sports channel as #1 on the hate list, but to each his own.

I have noticed that a lot of people have to get drunk before they can get up the nerve to take the mic. Not me...but sometimes I have to be drunk to listen to it. The choice of song makes a big difference. If I hear country music, or Elvis's "My Way" more than twice in a row, someone will have to wake me up when it's my turn. Some of my music is in French, and I'm sure that it is frustrating to some people, not being able to understand it, but others come up and tell me that they love it. It is very good music, not boring. My regular KJ always hands me the mic early, because he knows that I am going to start every song off with a joke. With the cordless mics now, I can walk around the room while I'm singing, give people silly looks and gestures and make them laugh. I like to entertain. I also do a variety of voices, which blows people's minds sometimes. The songs I do the most are :

Afroman - Because I Got High
Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes
Janis Joplin (anything)
Jimi Hendrix (anything)
Rocky Horror Picture Show (anything)
Monty Python - The Lumberjack Song
Clarence Carter - Strokin'
Les Rita Mitsouko - Les Consonnes, Andy, Marcia Beila, Les Histoires d'A
Led Zeppelin - Kashmire

Nothing boring there, no ballads, no lounge music, no lullabies. IMO, if people would do more interesting songs, and maybe practice a little, public opinion of karaoke would improve.

As for that idea with the individual padded rooms...I wonder how many people go in there to masturbate? Why bother going out?

This list is retarded. Pardon my (retarded) lack of political correctness.

These same people that say they hate these innovations sure would miss the Internet, ESPN, remote controls, cell phones, and alarm clocks. If they are annoyed at this things, they sure are welcome to stop using them.

In honor of this list of the top ten worst gadgets of the last 40 years, I would like to share the worst gadgets of ALL TIME:

10. Printing Press
9. Toilet Paper
8. Paper Clip
7. Fire
6. Bicycle
5. Assembly Line
4. Written Language
3. Steam Engine
2. The Wheel

And the number one worst gadget of all time............. 1) SOAP!
