I like the furniture. If someone spills a drink on it, you can just unload it and throw it away. |

Jam ol buddy, I've always been pretty sure, that we had a few things in common.....I must say, I've rigged a few just like that, and more... like a wise man once said....."getter done".....there always will be that 1/100,000 person who looks at an improvisation like that with ......but I like it! |

I've spoken about this before ..It's a sunken bar WITHIN a very busy liquor store. Saturday night is Karaoke night .. Here's the best #1 - It's one of the best KARAOKE crowds I've ever had #2 - The owner and his sons are extremely NICE and LOVE KARAOKE #3 - Large flat screen monitors all around and no need for sep monitor #4 - They pay MORE than any other bar gig I've had SO WHAT I have to set up on cases of beer and soda ....I admit it's not a pretty picture .. There is only so many wires you can hide within the wine bottles The point is .....I'm sure many other KJ's have very UNIQUE set ups. shows and venues were there are no RIGHT answers that encompass everyone to many questions. We all do what we need to do !!! |

OK I've recovered from my speachless-ness. Yep in the end, this is what its all about, getting the show done however you need to. I have to admit, I've never played a show where space was so limited that I had to resort to extremes like this. Every gig I've ever done, I've been able to either use one of their tables, a counter or bring in my own table. I gotta say given my rig, I wouldn't setup how you have here out fear for the safety of my equipment (an 80lb 20x36 mixer case on top of those boxes would be pretty unstable I'm thinking). But again, all that said, your main point is spot on, part of this job is being flexible and finding a way to get the job done even if it means making certain compromises we'd rather not have to make. |

Yamaha powered head, $40 Nady mics, and a set of BR15's... and you use them at the gig that pays you the most and it's one of the best crowds you've had. Dude.. I think we might have been separated at birth. Can't say as though i've ever set up on cardboard boxes.. although in the past i've commandeered the occasional chair or barstool to sit my lyrics screen on.. but i've definitely been in many 'function before fashion' situations over the years. I don't use my Yamaha EMX312SC much anymore, just because I like the way my Mackie VLZ board sounds better.. and it's all built into a portable custom box that houses my sonic maximizer and power amp, plus has a custom laptop mount. But many a day when i'm lugging that rack box into a gig I miss being able to carry my board, amp, and reverb into the gig with one hand, with my laptop bag over my shoulder, and my wire bag in my other hand. |

Is that a 512? If so, that's the same one I use and I really like it. Portability, amazingly lightweight, and even has compression, which I was really lacking with the Behringer counterpart. It also actually sounds pretty good. Good on you! I set up in a really tight place at my busiest venue beside the stage (not on it, because the owner has put living room type furniture on it - couch coffee table etc), but I am permitted a table at least! Good on you, Jam! |

The Yamaha EMX512 is a great little mixer and came highly reccomended by a few on this board. The built in compression , dual amps and on board efx are great. granted if any of the venues I host at were much bigger I would need to re think my set up.

Is that bar venue also a package store? What's up with all of the product in the middle of the bar?? At my venue, those bottles would disappear one by one..... |

The bar is in the middle of a very busy liquor store --There is product on all four walls. The picture doesn't show it but BEHIND me if you imagine is the cooler which runs the length of the store. So when I'm set up if someone wants mikes hard lemonade they have to squeeze by my one speaker |

Do they have to give you a request slip and get added to the rotation to reserve time so you can rearange your equipment? |

I dig it man, you gotta do what you gotta do. I also rock the 512 with a pair of Peavey NEO 15's. I'm all about lightweight and portable gear. It looks like a fun gig! |

Stack your amp on top of higher priced beer and the sound quality improves. Yuengling is a cheap beer and, anytime you use one cheap component in a system the overal sound quality is going to suffer based on the lowest quality item in the system. If you are able to use a few boxes of expensive vintage wine at $1000 a case the sound quality would be awesome. |
